OK, my racking cane came with a red tip....does this serve a purpose other than keeping the tube from getting dirty......

I looked on Morebeer, and AHS, and neither says anything about it....

I didn't even know what it was until I saw AHS selling one....they just don't tell you what it is for...

I didn't use it when I racked my beer to secondary

Thanks for your patience....

Chad

My tip is black but I assume you mean the little piece that covers the bottom?

Yes, it serves a purpose! It helps to keep "junk" and trub from entering the racking cane when you rack.

Thanks, I just made sure I kept it above the trub as much as possible, I got very little in the secondary......

I haven't used that tip since the first batch....I just control the placement of the end of the cane by eye once the level drops.
