I am brewing an IPA from a kit I received as a present. It is the brewers best kit. I am using RO water and decided to add some 5.2 to it. Would it be benenificial to add gypsum to it also or will that defeat the whole purpose of 5.2?

I thought the brewers best kits were based on extract. If that's correct, the 5.2 won't do you any good. Some gypsum may help bring out the hop presence a little by adding sulphates. The main purpose of gypsum and the 5.2 is to provide the correct environment for mashing, which you don't do with extract.

-a.

Thanks

I did a partial mash on the grains. That was the main reason I added it. I guess it has been too long since I brewed an extract kit without a PM.
