I am interested in a stainless steel kettle/ wort cooker but it is not advertised as such and is marketed as a normal kitchen cookware. The metal is thick enough so I know I not buying something that is paper thin.

It is defenitely stainless steel, but my question is will this 'economy' stainless pot be adequate or does it have to be for that specific task.

It will be fine as long as its the 300 series stainless (304L/316L). You can buy some stainless pots and they are of 200 series stainless and they are prone to rust in the long run. I use an old keg I cut the top off of.
