Never did this before, but dying to try it out!

Got 1/2 gallon (glass jugs) to start (this has to be a small, wife-friendly venture....), I've got a couple of basic questions....

I'm using local orchard cider (heat treated only).
(Do I need to put a dash of sodium metabisulfate in and let sit first to kill any wild yeast?)

Red Star Montrachet yeast (how much of packet for 1/2 gallon?)

1/2 lb of sugar (is that correct?)

I'm looking for a slightly sweet carbonated (if possible) drink.

If I leave it in a 70-degree room, how long do you figure?
