I was searching for information regarding recirculating wort while mashing and I saw that people made their effort not to disturb the grain bed.

This got me wondering as I stir the grains every time after wort is recirculated.

So.. should I stir the grains or not? When I sparge I do use a DIY sparge arm to minimize disturbing the grains.

Thanks

I stir whilst mashing, about once every 15 minutes. I do it to ensure I have a consistent temperature throughout the grain bed. Once I begin recirculating and sparging I do not stir...
