While brewing ales I have skipped using a secondary. I am about to getting into lagers, and was wondering if skipping a secondary is ok while lagering?

Yes it is fine, but keep in mind the the flavors of most lager styles are light so the flavor contributions from sitting on the yeast for extra time will be more obvious in these styles. You might like them, you might not, or you might not care. The only way to find out is to try it.
Generally those of us who brew lagers tend to prefer to lager off of the yeast. There is no right or wrong way. It is your beer, so do whatever works for you.
