Hey all, I am new to kegging and I understand you want to purge your keg of any oxygen after the beer is transferred to the vessel. I have a coke keg which does not have a manual "purger" so I've heard I will have to push in on the gas-in knob to release the air pressure. Does this sound correct?

Yup. That little valve is called a poppet valve. You can also just leave the hatch cracked and run the CO2 for a 5-10 seconds. Then after you rack, seal the hatch and do 3 or 4 cycles of CO2 followed by releasing by pressing the poppet. This will purge any remaining oxygen that got into it while racking.

What I do is to purge the keg before filling so there is a nice blanket of CO2 at the bottom. If you have the threaded fittings on your keg simply unscrew it and put the open hose end in the bottom and give it a quick burst of CO2. Otherwise simply leave the lid off and give it a burst and then wait maybe 30 seconds for gravity to let the CO2 settle. Fill the keg. Then give a slow purge of CO2 through the gas in fitting (10sec) with the lid in place but not sealed.
Most kegs though have some type of overpressure release valve that can be used to vent the Oxygen at the top.
