I'm kegging next week for the first time. I plan on getting brew cold, turn psi to 30 for 24 hours then down to 7-10 range for another 24 hours. My question is after I change from 30 to 7 psi do I purge the tank completely before adjusting to a new psi level?

It depends on your regs and valves as well as how full your keg is. Some regs will bleed off pressure when u turn them down, others won't. This is easy to see as the pressure guage will drop or not as u turn the screw. If you have an in line check valve on your gas line it still won't drop the pressure in the keg as this is designed to keep liquid from backing up into your gas lines.

As long as you didn't fill the keg above the gas dip tube opening and aren't going to try to dispense the beer immediately, there's no need to release the head space pressure in the middle of your burst-carb process...

Cheers!

It's a Kegco system, does anyone have experience with this?

Also wanted to ask when you guys sanatize your legs do you take off the in and out valves to dip in sanitizer as well or just the lid?

Keg do regulator won't bleed it off automatically... So youre probably going to want to bleed it off to lock in 7psi... Otherwise you won't know how much you've reduced the pressure when you turn the knob. Also give it a minute after bleeding off as the pressure will rise until you hear the tank stop hissing.

What kegco setup did you get?

I got the standard door mount ball lock conversion one. When you keg do you remove the in out stems or just spray them down before kegging?

I take everything apart for cleaning - posts, poppets, dip tubes. I reassemble for sanitizing, putting about a gal of star san in the keg and replacing the lid then rolling the keg around and turning it upside down. I especially make sure to hold it for a bit on it's side with the liquid tube down to make sure star san gets in there. Other folks clean and sanitize in place pushing cleaner and sanitizer through with CO2. Sanitizing in place with it full of starsan is a way to completely purge the keg of oxygen if you're going to do all closed transfers. I always seem to have gunk in the posts though so I don't like to clean in place.
