I have a recipe for pumpkin ale and it calls for pumpkin in a can but at the store I can only find pumpkin pie mix with spices in it... should I still use it and tone down the spices I have or not?

Thanks

I wouldnt do it.

Any store that doesnt have Libbys pumpkin pie in a can is crap. Any Safeway, Albertsons, or generic big grocery store will have Libbys Pumpkin Puree year round on their shelves, usually in the baking isle.

*edit* After looking in your city on google maps your best bet is Trader Joe's or the Walmart.

I would also recommend putting the pumpkin in the oven for an hour at 350F. It carmelizes
