I brewed a pumpkin beer night. It's been rather unseasonably hot the past week and fermentation began very quickly. The temp of the fermenter when I checked this morning was about 76. I moved the fermenter into a swamp cooler and I have it down to 69 now. Does the krausen look normal? It looks a little more foamy than my last batch.

The higher temps just means a more vigorous fermentation hence the more foam. 76 is getting pretty high though so at least you brought it down.

It looks normal. Since it got so hot you may want to give it a little extra time on the yeast to clean up a little.

Cool thanks for the replies. What's the range I should shoot for with ales? 60-70?
