I bottled today and for the first time, I batch primed.. And I was in the mood, so I racked my Red Ale and dry hopped with an ounce of Cascade pellets. I also am racking my IPA into secondary so I can dry hop with an ounce Cascade and an ounce Brewers Gold.. And, I just might brew the BB Rye Pale I have sitting in the other room. I have 25 gallons of beer in different stages and 5 more to brew this evening.. All while enjoying my most recent and first lager'd OKTOBERFEST... Gotta love a good cycle

Nice! I've been moderately productive, in fits and starts.

I'm bottling off of every keg today, to take some beer as a gift to a friend, as well as trying to empty at least one keg. I kegged a beer this morning, and I pitched yeast in a wine from must I made yesterday. I dryhopped an IPA.

I already sanitized about 30 bottles. Then I remembered how much I hate bottling so I"m taking a break before sanitizing the Beergun!

During the week I was off between Christmas and New Year I brewed 2 batches, bottled 3 batches, racked 2 batches, constructed a homemade hickory mash paddle, and did some metal work to modify my turkey burner so it would accommodate my new 11gal kettle! This weekend I'm relaxing and drinking the fruits of my labor! :mug:

I might be doing some bottling and racking/dry hopping tonight. Will check SG on both and taste to see if I want some hops. Last time I tasted the dry hop candidate, I really liked the hoppiness. Hope I don't F it up :D

I bought a lot of beer today, does that count? Kinda sucks having to wait around for my 5 current batches to finish fermenting/aging, and knowing that I have ~250 empty bottles with my name on them to sanitize, fill, and cap.

But I doubt I'll be complaining too much here in about a month or so once the first batch is ready to start drinking.

You're one keg away from drinking HB tonight.:fro:

We're just starting to get things together for another double brew weekend. She want's to brew her summer shandy again, with one more tweak. I think I'm gunna brew my APA again. Contemplating this over a Left Hand Brewing milk stout. Damn, this stuff is great! Sure different from stouts of a decade ago...

We just got it in this area recently. Smooth creamy coffee roast flavor. Not overly roasty/burnt at all. Very good if you thought you didn't like stouts, like me. Makes me wanna try brewing a milk stout now. I'd love to clone this one. Maybe start researching milk stouts now?...

Nice! Sounds like you've got a great start to 2012!

If you can include research and acquiring new equipment as productive, then I have been productive. Been trying to wisely spending my christmas funds to step up from extract into AG - so I've accomplished the following:

  • Planned out my next 6 beers from Brewing Classic Styles (in no particular order) - got all the recipes plugged into excel with grain totals so I can buy both the grain and hops in bulk! Woohoo :D
    1. Mild
    2. Ordinary Bitter
    3. Irish Red Ale
    4. Brown Porter
    5. Scottish 70/-
    6. Extra Special Bitter
  • Listened to 10+ Brew Strong shows, and 5+ Jamil Shows (on the styles I'm planning on brewing)
  • Ordered a bunch of supplies from Rebel Brewer/MoreBeer/NorthernBrewer including
    • Rebel Brewer Grain Mill
    • 8 lbs PBW
    • Blichmann Brewing Gloves
    • 25' of new vinyl hose
    • Aeration Stone
    • Water Filter/RV Water hose
    • Salts/Lactic Acid for mash pH
    • 50lbs Grain Storage Container
    • Stirstarter w/ 2L Flask
    • HomeDepot Rubbermaid Lagerator!
    • New 6 gallon Better Bottle/carboy dryer
    • Solid stoppers for carboys
    • Bottle Brush and some other misc tools
  • Researching a pH meter, and finalizing my oxygenation setup as well as looking at getting a new Wort Chiller and using my old one as a pre-chiller
  • Getting Voile fabric for the wife to make me a BIAB bag
  • And Finally made a batch of EdWort's Apfelwein which is fermenting away in the lagerator.
Whew! I've been busy :drunk:

p.s. OH and my sister donated her mini-fridge (unfortunately due to the compressor hump in the back I cannot fit a carboy in it, so I'm using it to chill my beer in the bottles, which works great - wife likes the now free'd up fridge space)
