Hello,

Yesterday was the first time I did a BIAB since a year ago. I think I mixed up a step and drained/squeezed the bag after mashing but before bringing the temp up to 170 for 10 minutes. If I remember correctly I should have drained/squeezed after the mash out at 170. Is this going to have any ill affects on my beer or am I worrying about nothing?

Thanks!!

No worries. The grain may have been at mash temperature longer with that method, which means the enzymes will be active a little longer leading to a slightly more fermentable wort. Some people say the wort runs better when it is hot, meaning that there will be a little more wort tied up in the grain.

My book has a nice section on mash temperature theory that might be interesting. That section has been just about entirely rewritten.
