I just brewed my first batch from a 'brewer's best kit. I think I did it wrong as the instructions (during boiling and adding the malt) said to "add sugar, if required". I added the priming sugar, but before bottling it says to "add priming sugar". Should I add more priming sugar prior to bottling? I am brewing a Red Ale.

The sugar will pump up you abv a bit. If you want the beer to be carbinated, you will have to add more sugar when bottling. You can just use some cane sugar (plain white sugar) if you don't have any corn sugar.

Yes, you will need to add priming sugar at bottling. The yeast have already turned your first addition into alcohol.

You definitely need to add priming sugar right before you bottle.you can use a calculator like the one in the link below to figure out how much sugar you need.
