I have been growing my own Cascade hops for several years now and last season decided to dry some out and make some beer with them.
I air dried them for about 7 or 10 days and then vacuum pack and froze for about 4 months. When I used them to make a Hefeweizen, the mesh bag contaianing the Cascade hops swelled up to the size of a softball and the Warrior and Williamette (store bought) did not swell so much.
Cascade .25oz Whole hop
Warrior .25oz Whole leaf
Williamette .5oz Whole leaf
I'm not sure if I prepared them wrong or because they were whole hops, but they were the same weight as the Warrior but double is size after throwing them in the boil.
Thanks
Steve
