To combat potassium sorbate in commercial apple juice I've read that you can set a starter yeast and let it cultivate overnight then add to the juice and fermentation will continue (slightly slower than normal)

My question is, Can I just cultivate then starter yeast with a sugar water solution and add it to the juice?

Cheers
