Hi folks,
So I rinsed some saison yeast 6 months ago threw in the back of the fridge in two mason jars and forgot about it. I retrieved them from the fridge today to notice a brown/black layer on top of the yeast at the bottom. Opened it smelled it and could tell it wasn't right. Dumped that one, grabbed the other, looks fine, smells fine, is it safe to use or should I not chance it? It was yeast from the same batch of beer and I never noticed any infection in the saison I made a few months back. Thanks for the help.
