Hey guys. In my never ending quest to cheap out on equipment, I saw these 2.5 gallon ice mountain water jugs at the store for $2. Would these be a possible primary fermenter for 1.25 gal batches? Figured i could use the water as well. They are #2 HDPE, and are about the same rigidity of a milk jug. Any thoughts?

Can you? Sure. Cleaning after one use might be tough, especially if the plastic is textured.

I found similar shaped containers at Kroger for $5. They are stronger than milk jugs, have a wide mouth capped top and the spigot comes off. Their intended use is to dispense beverages from a shelf in your refridegerator.
