Culmination Anniversary was nice and calm before 5pm. Started getting busy around then- plenty of cans for those who are thinking of stopping by- though they were skeptical if they would be around for most the week. I will likely be stopping by tomorrow again around 5ish, if someone wants to grab some beers.

First dinner at grain & gristle, with upright anniversary saison and gin negroni. Followed by second dinner at saraveza with little beast das pils (excellent suggestion teddyarrowhead) and a Ruse hazy ipa. Walked out with a sixer of pfriem pils, a can of little beast hoppy saison, and a holy mountain saison for my Airbnb. Love this city

Because there have been food mentions and foodie talk... this is a standout event during Portland Beer Week, and will sell out fairly quickly: http://stjackpdx.com/kex-breakside/

For those who are lucky enough to travel internationally occasionally and haven't taken advantage of the Iceland stopover, Dill is a Michelin Star restaurant in Reykjavik, is phenomenal, and their chef is coming here and doing a beer pairing dinner with one of the best French chefs in town + Breakside beer. That is a very decent price too.

Mmmm dill... that place was fantastic. And yeah, $85 is cheaper than what it costs in iceland, lol.

It's smaller pans but they use the same amount of dough so the thick crust is now easily 2" thick. The sauce was way different in a sweeter kinda way as well. Oh, they also cut out about half of the cheese they put on.

Would not recommend.

Is that at the Portland or Beaverton location?

Much appreciation to the general friendliness throughout Portland, had a great vacation. Highlights included Culmination, Ruse, Upper Lip, and Tulip Shop Tavern. For food, Han Oak lived up to expectations, but single best item was the seafood chowder at Viking Soul Food. Wayfinder patio was also a great way to spend a little time at on Sunday afternoon. Time to start planning the next visit.

Another bachelor party question: how crowded will Pfriem be mid afternoon in August on a Saturday? A friend told me like a two hour wait to get a table. How easy is it to pop in and get a beer at the bar?

It will be very crowded, but there is a patio where you can have a beer. They have a merch store with taps as well, so you can grab a beer there or at the bar.

Edit: Hood River is also an open container city, so if you bring some hydroflasks, you can fill them and go chill at the park across the street.

Can you just drink beer out of a can and walk around?

I believe so. As long as you don't try and take it inside an establishment. Obviously check laws before doing this.

You definitely can, I did it last week. The side bar at pFriem was closed so I bought a six pack of Pilsner with my family and drank it in the park right outside. They fill crowlers and growlers too. You have to leave the establishment before you open it, though.

Are there any must-eat spots near the High Water Mark? I'm using Yelp, but it's tough to tell how well reviews are calibrated.

Don't leave us hanging, Arbitrator. Where'd you go for food?

Sorry, didn't mean to ask and run. I wound up going to Toro Bravo but we skipped the show at the High Water Mark.

I also hit up Sizzle Pie, Tasty n Alder, and Screen Door. Gawd Dem. The food here has gotten amazing over the past 10 years.

WTF HotD has Matt on draft.

I haven't kept up with their bottles, so I might grab a few to take home. I wish he'd get over the Stone thing. Stop trying to make fetch happen.
walk a block down the street from HotD to Boke Bowl and get a 3pk of their fried chicken steam buns with orange dot sauce. the chicken is great but that sauce is pure crack.
