At Ruse, and bartender just told me them and Cloudburst are the breweries that will be participating in next year's 3 Way.

Original Lompoc on NW 23rd is closing.

That's 2 locations that have closed in the past year. That can't be a good sign.

"Original" Lompoc.

I dunno. Maybe that space just doesn't appeal to the demographic in that area now. The old spot was really divey, and the new one has a pretty divey vibe despite being in a slick "new Portland" building. The juxtaposition is weird.

Doesn't help that they haven't released an exciting beer since like 2010.

Occidental Oktoberfest this weekend? Or will that be a shitshow...never been before and my wife and friend were talking about going.

I haven't been, but I will say last year's Oktoberfest at Stammtisch (which is also this weekend) was pretty amazing. They had an actual oak barrel from Hacker-Pschorr that they tapped (I'm pretty sure it was a 5 or 10 gallon barrel of their Helles) which was the best German beer I've ever had in the US, and plenty of great festbiers and Märzens. I am also a fan of Occidental, however, so I would check out both if it's possible.
