Going to be in Kennebunk from July 14-22 but will have transportation to Portland also. Anyone interested in setting up an IP trade for some Texas brews? Jester King, Lone Pint, Live Oak etc. Or sharing some brews? Shoot me a message, would love to meet some people!

Also looking for some good food recommendations in the Portland area.

hey guys, I'll be in Portland on thurs july 16.
between all of the breweries I'll only have time to hit 1 bottle shop and 1 bar.

which bottle shop between Bier Cellar and RSVP should be my goto (or is there a another option I may have missed)?
between Novare Res and Lions Head which bar should I hit?

any decent local beach to spend an hour or so (assuming nice weather)?

how fast does Allagash usually sell through it's releases? see they're releasing Coolship Red on 7/11 - would it last into the next week?

Really you could probably do both, RSVP is 5 minutes up Forest Avenue from Bier Cellar. You can browse and order online for pickup at Bier Cellar to save even more time. Bier Cellar is more expensive but a little more curated in terms of selection. RSVP is cheaper with larger and broader (but still really good) selection.

Assuming you mean King's Head? I would choose Kings Head personally these days as a local. Better food options and usually one of the more interesting tap lists in town. Novare is good too obvi, but it isn't the be-all-end-all of Portland craft bars it used to be a few years ago IMO. You can check the Novare tap list online though to see if it appeals to you more.

Willard Beach in South Portland is 10 mins across the Casco Bay bridge. Next closest options are 20 mins away in Scarborough.

Depends, Coolships (except for the most recent Resurgams) and fruited sours always go the fastest. It will probably last in to the week but likely not past Tuesday or Wednesday would be my guess. Thursday is cutting it close. The recent releases have been larger though so it's possible.

What's up juggalos? I am going to be in your city for the first time late thursday night next week before I head up to bar Harbor. I wanted to make a quick stop in Portland and wont be getting in until 10-11 on thursday night, what are my best bets for food and beer? Novare Res looks to be open late and I'm seeing King's Head suggested. Any good late night food spots? Any other bars worth checking out?

Slab Sicilian Pizza and Nosh Kitchen Bar are both A+ food choices with rock solid tap lists. Slab usually has an Oxbow bottle or two for on-premise.

You are the man Josh, thanks a bunch! I guess I will press a little further and ask for a good breakfast/coffee spot for friday before we hit the road?

Go to Poboys and Pickles for a biscuit breakfast or just say **** it and eat a roast beef and fried shrimp Po Boy and a coconut macaroon (possibly the best sweet treat you will ever eat). The Bayou Kitchen serves up a tasty brunch as well. If doughnuts are your thing check out The Holy Donut.

All good spots. Add Marcy's Diner to that list too if you're in the mood for "traditional" breakfast stuff. Classic place, right downtown.

What is the hot dog and tater tot place called, I always space on the name. That's absolutely my go to late night already-trashed eats location

Agreed, that is a great breakfast spot with a very friendly staff. Hope to see them and the rest of Portland again soon.

All spots mentioned so far are great, but I'll throw in Local 188 as an option too. Love their salmon scramble, great bloodies and they usually have some solid beers on tap.

So nearly a week away from The Summer Session Fest. Haven't heard anyone discussing it or planning on going. Any TBers going to be there? I'll be flying solo to the event and would love to meetup and enjoy the bounty of beers and food to be available. Also I'll be enjoying some post fest beers at a buddies place in Portland, anyone down for a post fest bottle share?

I'll be out of town for the weekend visiting friends otherwise I'd be there. Looks like a pretty good deal. No limits on pours too apparently.

I don't think there's a place here to jerk off to photography but this is one of my favorite beer photos I've ever taken, pretty amazing beer too.

Yo is that beer fest in Portland tomorrow gonna be a bust or is it getting only hype? It looks legit.

Is anyone from Boston going?

Does Novare have an updated bottle/tap list? I may hit Portland the Thursday night before FOFA

Yup online tap list is usually very well up to date (to the day even): http://novareresbiercafe.com/draught.php

Bottle list is notoriously out of date and not accurate. Just have to see when you're there, and half the stuff still on the current list will be gone already anyway.
