So I put together a Robust porter recipe using calculations from designing great beers and looking at a couple of porter recipes for ingredients ideas. So of course I am looking for some advice on my recipe as it sits.

Shooting for OG of around 1.060
IBU 30ish
5.5 gallon batch calculated at 70% efficiency

12 lb 2 row
1 lb 3 oz crystal 80L
5 oz chocolate malt
5 oz roasted barley
5 oz white wheat malt

60 min .5 oz nugget
20 min .5 oz n. brewer
5 min .5 oz willamette
1 min .5 oz cascade

White labs WLP002 English Ale Yeast

This will be my first porter, i have brewed a Imperial Stout and a ton of IPA's. Any constructive criticism is appreciated!!

Thanks

I'd say you could be a little light on the dark malt @ ~4.75%. And while there is no law against using roasted barley in a porter, in general, it is more of a stout ingredient. I would also think about bringing the crystal malt % down a bit from 9%.

Here's a possiblity:

12 lb pale
3/4 lb crystal 80L
3/4 lb chocolate malt
1/4 lb roasted barley
1/4 lb Carafa II, or CarafaIII or black patent malt
3/4 lb wheat malt
