As long as you don't leak from the picnic tap, you won't even go through one. The cartridge won't hold on it's own very long though once opened. Think mine made it 2 days after opening. It's cheap plastic after all.

If your refering to the one that uses the 16gm c02 cartridges you should only need one. Just squeeze enough in to keep the beer pouring, it doesn't take much.

No, you can leave it on there. Taking it off means all the gas in there would leak out.

Is there a sepcial technique to use this dispencer, I didn't realy understand the other posts up there...

Thanks Yooper

A little clarification to my comment. I didn't mean to disconnect the cartridge. I meant that I learned the hard way to disconnect the gas ball lock and put it in my pocket so I could monitor pressure myself. The gas gun is apparently so mesmerizing to people that everyone wanted to squeeze it before a pour.

The last time I took a corny to a party, it arrive with 12 psi from my system. I think I connected my Co2 gun twice before we kicked the keg. It's not rocket surgery. :)

I don't mean to sound dumb but if I get this right I pressurise my keg at home with my system, then conect the ball lock gas gun and cartrige to my keg and only when the beer flow slows down a bit I squeeze the gas gun and add pressure :) pretty simple... What happens if I take the gas gun off the gas post ? Will I loose my gas or is it leak free ?

If you in unscrew the little gun from the disconnect and leave it attached, it will leak all the gas out of the keg through the open disconnect. If you remove the disconnect with the gun attached it shouldnt leak, but this is specifically NOT recommended in the directions that came with my charger. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but that's what my directions said.
As far as when to use it, just wait till the beer flow slows to a trickle and give it a quick shot or two till it pours normal.

I tend to volunteer to pour for people because some people will blast through a whole cartridge needlessly.

Hope this helps. There are a few different manufacturers of these so YMMV.

It's because you lose a bit of the Co2 that's pressurized in the line upon disconnect. There's not much volume in those cartridges. Mine doesn't have any line on it, just connected directly to the ball lock so it's not that much and I don't worry about it. Plus, I think I lose more volume when I leave it on for the Morans to play with.

Yeah mine doesn't have a line either. The instructions say it can cause the system to rupture but that is probably just CYA so they don't get sued.

I agree on the moron part too. I had someone discharge the whole cartidge on thier first glass and then complain that the beer was too foamy. Not a big deal except 16g cartidges are tough to find by me.
