I am in the process of making a diy beer gun! I just realized that my plan of using the bottling wand and vinyl tubing together will not fit inside of the bottle because the bottle opening is 3/4 and the wand and tubing together is 3/4 plus the spring mechanism on the wand so it will not fit. I have the option of using copper tubing for my gas port into the bottle.I know copper is not good for beer that has fermented.
My question is this, can I use the copper and be okay since it will be such a short contact with the beer or do I have to find another way.
The bmbf is just not working for me and a 100 dollars to a beer gun is out of the question! 20 bucks is in my range and I really want to make this work!
Please help thank you!

Are you trying to make a BMBF gun or more of a counter pressure filler? I'm a little lost why you need a spring, or why the wand doesn't fit in a bottle?

Making a homemade version of the blichman beer gun. I was going to use beer line with bottle wand but the diameter of both combined is to big for bottle. I am just concerned about using copper. I know contact with finished beer is bad but I was wondering if short contact was okay. View attachment 247017

Spend the money and get stainless. The copper will leach with fermented beer due the the lower ph. It "might not leach" with a short contact, but I personally wouldn't want to be the guinea pig for that just to save a few bucks

This article, and others, I looked at make it seem the risk of using copper for your planned use is minimal. A vegetarian is at greater risk to copper poisoning. Copper itself is not toxic, but copper oxide leached from the copper is, verdigris. Keep your copper bright and shiny. Clean well after use and heat to dry.
A diet that is not deficient in zinc is our protection from copper toxicity. Eat red meat.

Thank you. That has been the straightest answer I have received. I have tried a few threads haha.
