I modified a rectangular cooler to do my 1st all grain batch. I did a test run in the empty cooler Friday to experiment with my new propane burner and also measure initial temperature loss, as well as loss over a 60 minute period. I bought 6' of thermoplastic tubing for the transfer of wort from the MLT to boil kettle.
When I drained the hot water from the cooler the water had a strong smell of plastic. I am not sure if the odor came from the cooler or the tubing.
Is there a procedure to "season" the MLT and tubing to remove the odor?
