I'm looking to start a cascade bine down by the river. Any ideas or suggestions to how I should approach this? Can it become an invasive species to the surrounding areas?

From my observations over the last 5 years of growing them, hops are definitely invasive.
Left to their own accord, established plants sprawl like the dickens, growing over, under and through anything in their path.

So, yeah, what you're considering is unethical, and possibly illegal...

Cheers!

Plus hops don't like to be wet all the time, so that may be to close. And what are they going to climb? Any trees or poles in the area? If not, they will definitely spread.
