Kinney - Looking at your ISO:FT post, unless you personally know someone, it is going to be hard to trade local shelf stuff for Trillium and Treehouse. If you have some Voodoo Barrel Room Collection bottles you should be fine, but you're not going to get a lot of interest listing every brewery located in Pittsburgh. Just trying to limit your amount of Photekut likes.

Seriously? **** trading so hard...
Yeah, not sure if this is serious. I would think some brew gent IPA growlers should get the job done, no?

i wouldn't think that c+s for trillium would be hard either (albeit expensive as **** for hops)
I didn't like the c+s to but them in my suitcase to bring back from a business trip to Boston. DG DIPAs are $18, but you were paying $22 at Trillium. I did it because I was there and love Trillium, but it is not something I would do on the regular.

You shouldn't have an issue trading for Trillium and Alchemist beers since they are both pretty easily attainable and have high purchase limits. Dancing Gnome cans and Brew Gentlemen growlers should do the trick. Keep in mind that Trillium four packs are around $21, so you're basically going to be spending $40 on a four pack of beer when all is said and done.

Tree House is an entirely different beast. Because of the lower limits and their insane demand, people with these beers expect crazy **** for their hops. When I've traded for Tree House, I go the large quantity route and offer up big bottles because it's a pain in the ass finding any fair traders when it comes to this place. I actually just traded Side Project Jammy for a mixed 14 pack of Tree House beers about 2 weeks ago for perspective, which I thought was a really fair deal.

Yeah, I was going over the top with the BRC bottles. Basically, just trying to help him out limiting the scope of what he is offering as opposed to saying everything available in Pittsburgh.

I mean I just threw it out there. I knew the odds werent high. Youd think someone would be willing to at least trade some trillium for BG growlers
Absolutely. I think if you go that route, you will have better luck than the overly broad approach.

I just hate how specific trading is. If you dont have rare ****, you cant get anything decent.

I enjoy just filling up a $60 box of local stuff and having someone else do the same and swapping them

And whats stupid is its hard to find anyone who even wants to do that

exactly what someone trying to sling shelf turds would say...

If you're on fb, I'd check out the Beer is for Drinking group. Specifically for $4$ trades. Seems like you should be able to find what you're looking for on there. Or possibly the BG Trading page on fb.

Edit: though I do generally agree with Greg's future sentiments on trading

My advice is to stop looking at the trade forum and get involved with the BIFs. Plenty of people interested in BG/Pittsburgh beers and in most cases you are just swapping stuff that is local. Trading sucks.

Hey MooseLang - heading to the Outer Banks next weekend and plan on making a pit stop in Frederick for lunch and beers to go. I know that's not very close to where you are, but anything new that likley sees state wide distro worth looking for?

Now that Pittsburgh got some Shelton, our Distro is getting more similar. I would definitely recommend stopping here:

All the MD Breweries (RAR, Manor Hill, Burley Oak, and now even Union) are doing what the cool kids do, and doing the special brewery-only can releases.

Not trying to sling shelf stuff. Just dont have the time to invest to get in on alot of releases, and when I do I end up drinking them myself.

Go to the Outerbanks brewing station while youre down there. Its in Kitty Hawk I think, if not then real close. Solid beers and good food.

That's surprising. I've found RAR and Union on the shelves in greater Baltimore in the past.

I had unions gose last year, if you see that it makes a good beach beer also

Yeah if you're into the Gose thing, Old Pro Gose is as good as any of them.

Stay away from anything Manor Hill makes that isn't Grisette. Just my opinion there.

RAR Nanticoke Nectar has been a shell of its former self, but it's worth taking a shot on if you find a fresh sixer.

Allagash sours (375ml bottles) are easy to find here. Pricey (~$15), but not HO1KB pricey.

I love it when I stop getting notifications for 2+ pages of actual beer conversation...

ANYWHO, who in TF trades Voodoo Barrel Room for Trillium when they have case limits of like six different hops beers every day of the week? If anyone is doing that they should be chemically castrated.

Kinney it's not today obviously but I'm going to Trill in September and I'll bring you back whatever you'd like.

How do you get started in BIF? That forum is a jumbled mess.
Take a look at the MAW - Shelf Turd one. Anyone can join, and look at the current list. If you can hit one or more of the wishes then you can claim it and post your wish list for shelf beers (be it brewery or specific). If one the fence on whether you could hit someone's list you can PM them to get their thoughts. You should always post pics in the thread of your hauls as well. Generosity rules the day, and if just looking to do the minimum then this wouldn't be the right choice.

The current list has Voodoo (amongst other breweries) on it, and the guys is looking for "non-ipas".
