I "get" the thought process behind it; Laphroaig is briney and has that iodine quality, why not accentuate it? But then you have a gose base, plus seaweed, plus oysters. Sounds like you took the theme and just completely beat the piss out of it.

"Mmmmm, this is salty...you know what it needs? More salt!! Himalayan salt. Sea salt. Maybe some smoked salt."

Brewed with blu ray copies of the movie Salt.......

O.D.B. (Old Dirty Basement 7.0%abv) - In our search for local wild yeast strains (critters), we sometimes come across a black sheep. Although they are interesting, they sometimes can display extreme levels of some very funky aromas and flavors. It smells like an old dirty basement... in a good way.

WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS BEER IF YOU DON'T LIKE LITERAL ****"

I mean, Crystal Schip, Flatitude, 2008A... Given, those beers were actually palatable, but it doesn't seem like Scott is one to pass up a chance to "repurpose" a beer.

I just remember a stretch where it seemed like EEBC's Twitter was picture after picture of barrels being dumped down a drain.

If those are the beers he kept, imagine how bad the beers he dumped were...

(I don't hate EEBC as much as others, either.)

Or maybe he doesn't know the difference between good beer and bad and he dumped all the potential whales.

I get (and to some extent appreciate) the "outside the box" thinking that Draai Laag has. They are creative if nothing else and truly one of a kind (and thank god for that). But in no way, shape, or form does this sound like something that could actually be executed well.

This beer could make the Gimmick Lord himself, Jean Brolliet LXXXVVIII, take a step back and say "The ****?!"

Agree with all of that. And I do think that, once in a while, they do release something that's quite good. That raspberry Berliner they just did a couple of weeks ago was really good IMO.

I think Church Brew Works has one. It's a brewpub in a deconsecrated church. Check it out.

Speaking of - how was Rusty Gold, beerman6686?

I was expecting to go after a happy hour for someone leaving my department, but after a few too many mediocre Great Lakes and Southern Tier DIPAs, I figured it wasnt the best idea to drive down to Canonsburg, drink more, and then hike it back to Larryville. I will be going soon though, possibly tomorrow.

On the pierogie pizza subject, Michael's in the Southside has by far the best pierogie pizza ive had.
