not over this album, but I remember having very similar conversations with my parents. My mom used to actually screen some of my stuff. My Vanilla Ice tape was not shrink wrapped when I opened that **** at Christmas.

I once received both The Chronic CD and Doggystyle CD for the same Christmas. My mom saw the warning, but at that time things were different. She probably thought there were a few swear words and maybe a N word or two. Boy was she if for a surprise when I debut both CDs for everyone that was at out house that xmas. Lets just say instead of the 2 CDs I have them both on tape.

It was always my mom who tried to shield me from things. My dad pretty much didn't want to hear me bitch and moan when I didn't get my way, so he really didn't care about bad lyrics, R rated movies and what not. Him taking me to buy Rage Against the Machine's Evil Empire and the first Resident Evil on the same mall trip was one of the highlights.

Also always thought it was weird that Offspring's "Smash" wasn't parental advisory. I remember my friends and I sitting next to my boom box with the volume just above the noise level of a mouse fart listening to the song "Bad Habit".

And to bring us full circle back to GNR, my experience was when I asked for Use Your Illusion for my birthday and my mom just told my grandmother to buy me the tape. My 70'something yr old grandmother called my mom back after seeing the album warning and questioned her parenting skills. Good times...

My mom bought me the soundtrack to Newsies the same Christmas that my older sister got me Automatic for the People and Enter the 36 Chambers. Pretty much the best Christmas ever. Still spinnin that **** on the reggie

We all just needed a sheet of these stickers:

Went through this same thing with my mom (thanks, Nine Inch Nails, for printing your lyrics in the liner notes) & dad (thanks, Smashing Pumpkins, for naming a song "Silverfuck").
Guesstimate as to how many times you've jerked off thinking about Reznor and/or Corgan?

This past weekend I had a beer buddy in town from MI. He is a close friend and a great brewery to boot. It was interesting to hear his outside perspective on the various breweries, eateries and other establishments which I thought I would share.

First off he gave out some great praise to Beerwanderer and his selection at GEMDSH, including his Belgian section (which goes vastly under appreciated from the likes of me). He ended up dropping around $150 on beers there and walked away very happy.

His Rankings of Brewing/Drinking establishments went as follows:
  1. Arsenal Cider House - Loved the selection and flavor profiles. Even ended up ordering Snow Bound for his first drink at FH and Blueberry as his only drink at Carson St. Deli.
  2. Draai Laag - Really enjoyed what they have going on. Loved Simon Girty and Cru and ended up snagging bottles of Simon Giry and Areus
  3. Brew Gentlemen - Loves Braddocks. Ended up snagging 9 howlers for his beer buddies back home. The reason this is above Voodoo is because of his obsession with Braddocks.
  4. Voodoo - Loved a lot of beers here (Vandalay, CCC, Quadfather in Cab Sauv. barrels, Cow Bell). This would be above BG normally because of all the different styles that they do well but in the end, Braddocks wins out.
  5. Fat Heads - WINGS and a great beer selction. Nuff said
  6. Full Pint - Enjoyed the berliners (they still make great berliners). On the flip side, the Kilt 'Em All was the most hated beer of the weekend. Normally I would say "least favorite" but this beer was highly offensive and really awful.
  7. Roundabout - Said that everything is made really well (expected) and enjoyed Pacific Ring but felt that most of it was easy and unassuming.
  8. East End - We stopped at the Strip Disctrict location and while we all enjoyed the build out, the beer (outside of moonstomp) was not well received. He was appaled at the price of BA Grat
  9. Grist House - Universally panned by all. They had some really bad beer on tap and short (not in height), rude servers, among other issues. He was kinda mad that we brought him here. If it weren't for all of the cute dogs/puppies outside, he would have been livid.
Anyway he will be going back singing the praises of General Braddocks, Everyday Noodles, Draai Laag, Independent Bar & Hidden Harbor, FH Wings, our beautiful buildings around town and general positive beer culture. Conversely he will have some not so kind words for our messed up road systems, bad drivers, Primanti Brothers and Grist House.

Cheers!
I can't like this solely due to the primanti hate. Might grab a pastrami and egg with extra grass this afternoon just to calm down.

kbuzz, maybe you're just bummed you can't get it where you moved to? Now you ******* can! Get one of each and then you can be a foodie or a person that eats food.

Although I've not fully transitioned to Charlotte, Primanti's will most certainly NOT be one of the things I miss...

HH on the other hand, I really think nothing I ever taste will compare. Every Sunday when I go to the airport to come back here, I go and get a fresh HH pour from this one bar there because I never know when it might be permanently gone from my life... :(

I still remember not being allowed to purchase this CD because there was a song called "************" on it. My mom wouldn't give in after I begged and promised that I only wanted the album for one song that didn't contain swear words and wouldn't listen to anything else.

I remember being pretty surprised when I got Marilyn Manson - Smells Like Children as a present from my parents one year. Even more surprised now, looking at the song titles.

I don't hit up Primanti's that much these days but hitting up the one in the Strip/South Side/Oakland as a strapping young Pitt student was awesome late at night. There was always plenty of loose change laying around there as well, if you know what I mean. Not the hottest broads in Pittsburgh, for sure, but the kind of ladies crushing kielbasa & cheese at 2am after slutting around Mario's with no luck were in my wheelhouse.
Probably more in the vein of whole silver dollar coins
Wasn't there just some recent mentioning of DL turding up the shelves in other locales? DFH does interesting stuff too.

It wouldn't surprise me since they are Shelton Bros aka the 3.5 tier system company. Shelton can turd the **** out of shelves and part of it is their mark up. This will be changing soon (Prairie will have a lot to do with the change since they were sold) and I hope that they aren't turding up shelves.

I still think they make some enjoyable stuff and when they finally dial in the consistency they will be a very good brewery.

both DL & Prairie were shelf-turding on my recent trip to NC
