Any close by hotels/bars/breweries nearby Mr. Smalls Theatre worth seeking out.

Looking at going to a show there maybe.

Draai Laag and Grist House are both nearby. I'd be of the opinion but the former, but not the latter are worthy of checking out... But, there will be plenty here that disagreement with my assessment.

It's not sports radio either doe, it's The X.

But yeah, it is sports radio. Good lord Clearchannel has ******* ruined The X. It used to be awesome. Now it's whatever ******** is trending with the alternative hipsters and Mark Madden bloviating about being a super genius, all the while mostly just being an enormous homie.
Gonna have to go ahead and disagree with this. Even when it was the best radio station for my alternative rock-listening teenaged self to listen to in Pittsburgh, it was still garbage. Listening to the X, I don't think I have ever heard a band that I liked and didn't already know. It did have plenty of informative ads for clubs in the strip district though.

Am I the only person who learned about Mark Madden by playing back room poker with him back in the day?

I knew about him prior to, but I also played in a poker tournament with him (not back room poker - it was a local ESPN sponsored event like 10 years ago or so at least. If not more...)

And had completely forgotten about that until now.

Same here. I just laugh when people cry cheater when someone gets popped considering hardly anyone is clean. At this point, I think only Bartolo Colon MAY be clean. And that's a stretch. I'm a Phillies fan. In Rollins' MVP season (07 or 08...I forget), he hit 30 home runs. ****** is 5'6" in heels and maybe 165. That kind of power doesn't occur in nature.

I have 0 issue with it. If the batter is juiced to the gills as is the pitcher, it's a level playing field. Bonds is the home run king and belongs in the Hall of Fame. It's a travesty that he'll never get the recognition he deserves from the old guard of the sport. I have more issue with the over-regulation of it than anything else. When properly taken and monitored by a doctor, there is little to no inherent risk. When abuse occurs is when the issues start.

There is only one guarantee with Bartolo Colon. He is fat and entertaining to watch when he is hitting.

Bartolo got popped for PEDs (Testosterone) in 2012 busters.

Power is energy over a period of time. Energy is force over a distance. Stronger muscles will generate more force and cover a given period of time more quickly, creating more power.

Yeah but it doesn't make your hand eye coordination any better. you can wildly swing a bat as fast as you want doesn't mean you will hit the ball any better, thus back to my original point on the matter. You will definitely create more power, that's for sure but it won't help you hit the ball any better.

Completely disagree. If you wanna do the crime, you accept all risks that if you get caught, you do the time. Bonds, A-Rod, and the like should be nailed to the cross. Whether almost every player is dabbling in the Roids or it's only a select few, we don't actually know, but I think it's partly responsible for MLB ratings decline over the last couple decades.

Why get emotionally invested in the best players on your favorite team if you have a suspicion their legacy could be torn down someday?

Agree to this to an extent. I don't think Bonds ever failed a test did he?

Come on u think that Hank Aaron didn't use speed like everyone did in that era to get up for games. What about the steelers of the 70s there balls r smaller then raisins with how much the juiced. And let's not forget there was no rule about it and no testing don't blame the players blame the league. Bonds is the greatest hitter period.

Regardless of Bonds using or not. He was one of the best hitters. He might not have hit as many home runs as when he "bulked" up but he could still hit the ball regardless and would have been just as good if he stayed that tiny outfielder

I wouldn't call him greatest hitter period though. He was a 30 /40 guy in Pittsburgh before he started cranking 40+ HRs a year but then again who knows when he started juicing....

I don't know anything about baseball, but this doesn't sound like a very good argument. I don't think anyone's suggesting that you or I could get all roided up and successfully complete at the highest level. But for an already skilled baseball player to start turning some significant percent of their doubles, triples, and outfield fly ball outs (obv don't know baseball terminology) into home runs, and also apparently turn a significant percent of their fouls into hits seems like "hitting the ball better".

You seem to know more about baseball than tommyguz, so don't feel too bad.

I wanted to, but it's next to impossible to arrange child care during the week like that.

Yeah, it's just a short bit after the third baby drops, so I've a ticket and a soft "okay" from the wife; still a small but real chance that my freedom gets torpedoed at the last minute for this one. Weeknights are hard for childcare.

Sure, thanks for the ticket.

Dude, they're thirty bucks. Just skip a round of beers at Caliente and buy a ticket. We'll Uber down from the South Hills to AE.

Exactly. These are major league hitters. Nobody on here said if you take roids you will hit the ball with better technique. Roids don't make you a worse hitter or better hitter. If you can hit with more power, it is obviously a huge advantage, already being a major league talent.

Now that that's settled, why can't I find a Charmander around Pittsburgh?!

Weedles as far as the eye can see.
