Cause we enjoy his company down here. Quit trying to steal our friends, Tom...get your own, dammit...:p
Honest to God this gave me a hearty belly laugh. Bravo sir.

Damn it. Why does no one come to Meadville!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are slowly creeping in on Trady level of worstness

Anyone been to the twisted Frenchman? Was the food any good?

I went once and it was good but not up to the hype that I've heard. They also seem to subscribe to the New Pittsburgh Hot Cuisine trend of salting the **** out of everything. Plus I'm not a huge fan of the molecular gastronomy stuff.

Will you have a car? For drinking, Roundabout, Voodoo and Brew Gentlemen are all reasonable distances from you.

You might have seen Smallman Galley referenced in the past few pages (http://www.smallmangalley.org/our-restaurant-concepts/), which is about a mile from you and has both eats and a nice beer list. You could make a weekend morning of that--stroll the Strip and eat at Pamelas or DeLucas for breakfast, gawk at locals buying out of season Steelers garb by the truckload to polka, and then work up a lunch appetite for SG. If you're into Thai, Pusadees is near Roundabout, a bit farther into Lawrenceville.

We will have a car, thanks for the tips!

Anyone have some heady? 1 can. Friend who's just starting into craft was looking for it. Had to explain some things. PM me and I'll work something out with you. Thanks

Was thinking the same thing it's at least a 45 min drive between those places I live in Braddock and it takes 45 min to get anywhere.

And...and.....insurrection? Insurrection has a lot to prove before mentioning them in the same sentence as BG, let alone voodoo...c'mon. They might be on the right track or whatever but bg and voodoo don't disappoint. Don't lead the out of town folk astray.

Agreed. Showed potential, but I'd be pissed if I drove out there for it alone based on suggestion. BG and Voodoo in a different class.

Insurrection is about as far as Brew Gentlemen, just in the opposit direction, and I would make that a priority after Brew Gentlemen and Voodoo.

I just realized you said make that a priority after those other two...my bad. I thought you were saying to prioritize it over the others...I take it all back.

But roundabout though?

definitely bg/voodoo first, I kinda count them as one because I rarely visit one without going to the other afterwards. Insurrection and roundabout are about on the same level imo. If there's time for one I may choose insurrection, but roundabout is probably closer.

I love Roundabout in a "It's nice to have a good quality brewery right down the street" kind of way, but recently they just haven't been doing a lot of things that I would travel for if I lived on the other side of the city. For me, Insurrection has already surpassed them, and they're not looking back.

Now if proximity is an issue, then for sure check out Roundabout

Granted I've had a MUCH larger sampling of Roundabout than Insurrection but I'd definitely go to Roundabout first. Insurrection has potential but they aren't there yet. Plus, Roundabout has much more of a wide array of styles as where Insurrection is pretty much just hops, stout, saison. Neither are at BG level yet at this point though and obviously not worth comparing them to Voodoo especially with Voodoo's recent run of hops.

He said he's staying downtown. Insurrection is about the same distance from downtown as Brew Gentlemen, just west instead of East. Not sure what the confusion is...

I think Insurrection is really good especially being open only a year and struggling to keep beer on tap(obviously because it's good) but I'm not sure they are really anywhere near Roundabout yet. You could transport Roundabout to pretty much any city and they would be considered one of if not the best brewery there. We're lucky that now even to be considered 4th or 5th best brewery here you have to be a pretty good brewery. The quality and quantity in the city is pretty surreal. You could tell someone to visit Hitchhiker, Insurrection, Voodoo, Brew Gentlemen or Roundabout and there is a pretty good chance they will love any/all of them. Not a lot of other cities can say that.

* Insurrections Wings are pretty insane and worth a trip alone.
