Where might this review be?

"Black Dino...odd nose..vinegar/coffee/cocoa..taste is acidic...reminds me of a flemish brown. Kind of a tangled up mess. Finish is pretty awesome..I get chocolate, vanilla, watered down coffee....no coconut at all. Body is thin thin thin. Beer is slightly dry. Overall meh and I wasted $50."

He seemed to really like some of the other beers, so I'm not sure why he feels his money was wasted, but yeah, the opinion of Black Dino was all over the map. The other reviews seemed to be mostly positive, though - I guess if you're dropping $50 on a DL dinner it's a given that you're into their beer.

Fun fact: Apparently Black Dinosaur's OG was only 1.080 & ended up at 9% ABV with 87% apparent attenuation. Whodathunk?

Haven't tried that specific one but i do have a rum and whiskey barrel aged coffee that i could give you some of if you like.

They are interesting but dont really enjoy either enough for it to be my daily cup of joe
Yeah, it's more of an occasional thing for me too.

This Wednesday we will be releasing La Pienture bottles at the Draai Laag Biergarten in Millvale.

Aged in French Oak casks, La Pienture or, “The Painted” is a traditional Belgian style Kriek lambic fermented with locally harvested yeast strains and black cherry juice. Our resident yeast strains lend distinct flavors reminiscent of a Flanders red ale. 8% abv

There are 300 bottles available for purchase and a 4 bottle limit (per person per day). Bottles are 500ml are $8.75 each. Draft will be available as well.

Coffee talk? Okay. Not sure if tommyguz or wyckydsceptre or anyone else knew this, but Orbis in Lebo apparently regularly stocks:

Not sure if it's elsewhere locally, and still no Dark Matter to be found, but I was encouraged by finding this today.

Market District in Pine carries Inteligentsia too! Even a few bucks cheaper!

Market district shadyside usually has black cat, diablo and house blend for 12.99

I love coffee talk!
FWIW though; beware of the roast dates on the higher end beans from the GEMD's. Good coffee should be thought of in the same school of thought as IPA's and freshness. The Intelligentsia stuff i have seen as the GEMDH20WRXWTF store has all been several months old sitting on the shelf..

Also, on a beer related note. How do ya'll feel about sorachi ace as a hop? Its beyond weird in my opinion. I got some steady eddie from Union craft whilst in Baltimore over the weekend. That beer confused my tastebuds..

I had La Pienture on tap at HO1KB last year, and I really enjoyed it. Not overly sour, no vinegar, and some nice Brett funk.

Steady Eddie is a rare miss from Union. I actually blame the Honey Malt in that beer. But it is a strange beer that I never want to have again.

Edit: I love Brooklyn's Sorachi Ace (even though I haven't had it in a while), but those hops can be hit or miss. Sometimes lemongrass, sometimes dill pickle...

Me either. I don't even think untappd has a category for it haha I was trying to look up if I had any and didn't see the style.
Steins throw by the Bruery?

stakem ?

EDIT: Asking for your help with bottled berliners that aren't your janky homebrew
Local bottled/canned berliners? Donno man, im at a loss. I have only been in a beer store once in the past 4-5 months so im out of the loop. However, on the berliner front I did notice we are now getting 3 versions of White Birch berliner in cans.... proceed with caution and expect disappointment though.

I'm not sure im familiar enough with honey malt to point my finger at it but i knew when i bought the beer there was gonna be a good chance of it being something weird just because of the sorachi ace addition. I also enjoy the Sorachi Ace saison from Brooklyn but steady eddie strikes me similar to something having too much cilantro; Soapy and weird..

For the Coffee talkers this Sunday we are releasing a new and improved batch of our Coffee Porter, The Shakes. We will also have a Kettle Soured Red on. We are pairing each beer with a doughnut from Just Good Doughnuts. The Shakes is going with a Vindaloo Candied Bacon Doughnut and the Sour Red is going with a Fruity Pebbles Citrus Glaze.

Beer & doughnuts is a tough pairing, but when it works it's so awesome.

Yeah I didn't open that yet. It's in my fridge, but I think that's a blend of like barleywine and stein beer....it's labeled as a barleywine though

Yeah no idea about local berliners. What it White Birch?

Because if they labeled it as "stein beer" some DDB level cicerone will complain that they cant detect the usage of steins in the beer and rate it a 1. And those that know it wasnt made with real steins will complain that it isnt a recognized beer classification per act 187 flipmode squad of the BJNOPECP

Reminder for anyone with interest/no plans this Saturday: the Barnyard Beer Festival is this weekend. Live music, bunch of food options and locals beers from Fat Heads, Helltown, Insurrection, Spoonwood and Voodoo. Across from South Hills Village Mall, 6PM to 10PM. BM me with questions or if seeking tickets. All proceeds go to farm restoration projects; last year it raised over 7k and this year is on track to hit five digits.

No growler fills or children (preambulatory or otherwise).

So remember that movie theater that we were discussing last week? The one where Abjuration Brewing is opening up? If anyone was in any doubt about how cool & hipster they are, check THIS coolness out!

Man, our movie "scene" here is in a very weird spot. We miss out on a lot of great indies (or get them really, really late) but hey, we get this gem.......... That movie looks about as legit as a Michael Moore movie.

I went and reserved two 4-bangers of BA Grat. Only because it is less than a mile from my place and some of my regular traders requested it. I plan on keeping a can or 2 for myself.

How long was the line? Down to the animal shelter, I imagine.

Yeah there was no line haha

They roped off an area like in airports to direct people and there was absolutely nobody in line. Pretty sure everyone was just there for La Palapa. The guys at the counter were soooooo pumped when we went up to actually reserve cans.
