OK, to clarify any confusion about the beers we're releasing during 2nd Anniversary Week: Wednesday (May 18th) is a draft release of three hop-forward beers. Saturday (May 21st) is our actual anniversary and bottle release.

WEDNESDAY 5/18 (DRAFT RELEASE):
- Albatross (Galaxy DIPA)
- Foshomo (Mosaic DIPA)
- Foggy Mountain (APA)

SATURDAY 5/21 (BOTTLE RELEASE - ALL 750mL):
- II (Barrel-Aged Old Ale - $15)
- Foshomo (Mosaic DIPA - $10)
- The Unknown Unknown (Farmhouse Ale - $10)

Did you guys have draft or bottle this year? I had it on draft & found it a little off, with a kind of squashy note to it, but by no means awful.

Had both and thought it didn't have that fresh mango mosaic whatever punch in the nuts it did in years past. Didn't get any squash but i wish i did cause i love butternut squash, did get a lot of sweet malty goodness.

REALLY REALLY surprised to hear people couldn't finish one, or thought it was awful or terrible.

Last night i drank a bottle of The Bruery Cuivre with my buddy. Untapped listed it as a bourbon bbl aged old ale, weren't we talking about bbl aged old ales? Sweaty leather, vanilla, caramelly molassesy candy thing, pretty hot toward the end, i liked it, figure you barrel aged lovin dudes would too. Didn't taste like a phony. I'd classify it as non-fraudulent

I like em', but agree with others that the prices are exorbitant. I've not opened my bottle of Cuivre yet, but I quite enjoyed Bois and Sucre. I have a bottle of Scotch barrel aged Poterie on the way that I look forward to drinking too.

For me their barrel aged stuff is top notch, but their sour stuff leaves a ton to be desired.

Yeah they're universally expensive regardless.

I can stomach paying $30 for a really good barrel aged stout, which I believe Black Tuesday to be, but their $30 pricing across the board on all barrel aged beers is ridiculous.

We had the Cuivre in the basement for almost a year, along with a (i think) a Sucre that we'll drink tonight, we're kinda cleaning the cellar out so we figured we'd start getting Bruery drunk this week. Just figured i'd post about it since i don't get into a lot of barrel aged stuff and its popular around here and I want you guys to think i'm hip to the scene. Which obviously, i am not.

I also drank a 16oz can of skunked highlife last night and ate a box of Good & Plenty. Little more my speed.

It was pretty good. Probably the most hazelnut I've had in a beer. Very little barrel came through though.

I liked Monday the best so far.

Tried to push your Weekday reviews out of my mind momentarily, as to not be duly influenced by suggestion, but searched the thread for your M - W and find strong agreement. Don't necessarily seek out hazelnut personally; that and the cinnamon in Wednesday were too much for me.

Didn't dislike Tuesday as much as you, though it was thinner and a step down from Monday. Looking forward to Thursday and Friday.

Did you eat the Good & Plenty after popping down some Sno-Caps? I didn't know anyone under the age of 70 ate Good & Plenty.

Trust me it's ok to like the Bruery around here. There are many of their bottles that I don't think would be passed up in this crowd. I think the major problem is the price on the entry level beers.

Wait till Lebo opens and you add that extra tunnel and bridge tax; **** is going to be even crazy spensive.

This. Their entry level pricing is fine, it's just the across the board $30 policy on BA stuff that rustles my jimmies.

Agreed. I am even fine with the mid tier stuff such as Tart of Darkness and Gypsy Tart which ranges from $15-20.

I really don't understand the social media approach of places like Sharp Edge. They seem so half assed and approach it with what seems like an effort to minimize customers at their events. For instance today they make a post stating "Our Belgianfest has begun". Oh really? Did you just come up with the idea today, because I can't seem to find any previous mention of said fest on your site or twitter account. Is it a one day fest? Week long fest? Month long? I guess they just think that we will all drop what we are doing when they announce something same day so we can go have pours of Kasteel. I might be interested in attending a Belgian beer themed event but giving me a heads up ahead of time might be nice.

Anything above the Hottenroth/Mischief level pisses me off when it comes to The Bruery. I actively avoid them as a result. I think Black Tuesday is the only beer I've ever had from them and that was just because I got it as a throw in to round out a trade.

I would say pricing is somewhat an issue, but the way prices are trending these days I would say they are just about in line with everyone else. My biggest gripe with The Bruery would be their inconsistency. I know that they have tried to fix this by finally opening up separate facilities for sour production (honestly I understand the cost involved in this, but if your going to do sour beers isn't a separate facility a no brainer?). Once you add the prices to the guessing game on if a beer will taste like its supposed to that is why I tend to shy away from them. I would say that most of their sours are good to quite good. Their stouts are a little more hit or miss for me. I am not a fan of BT or CR, although I have been told that I should try them with some age on them. Loved WC and hated GM. Their anniversary beers/old ales are overlooked and are pretty good. Big fan of some of their shelf stuff like Mischief, and Hottenroth.

Maybe drop the american beers at this point and solely focus on Belgiums? That would be pretty cool, but I also like English pubs that focus on those styles, and wish there were someplace other than Hofbrauhaus that focused on German beers and cuisine.

Black Tuesday is 100x better with about a year on it, for sure. For me with a little age it's just about as good as it gets. I love Grey Monday as well (although I will admit it's very sweet). I wasn't a fan of Chocolate Rain, but the one time I had it, the bottle was only a couple of months old. The next time one comes into my possession I'll be giving it significantly more time.
