Just like PSUMike said, some people are willing to do...whatever it takes...for good beer.

I understand its all conjecture at this point but I was posing the question because sometimes I think we forget that we are a microcosm of the beer drinking community. We may represent a small fraction of the business at a place like BG, Roundabout et al.

Does the old ale style reach out to the rest of the beer drinking community? That I have no clue on.

At the end of the day it is fun to discuss and I look forward to trying the beer!

I think the labeling "Old Ale" will help it last longer, so more of us Microcosms can get our hands on it.
With their regulars who don't participate on TB, or the other forum-who-shall-not-be-named, I do think a bottled DIPA will fly out the door.

The Cellar Reserves are amazing. The 2011 one aged in brandy barrels is one of the best old ales/barleywines I've ever had.

That beer is not doubt, without question, easily and totally one of my top 5, if not top 4, could argue for top 3, favorite beers of all time in the history of planet earth. I love it so much i would marry it. It gets my soft boils hard. Gotta be one of the most complex and delicious beers i've ever dumped into my face.

If ever there was a defining hyperbolic moment...

I'd just like to take a minute to point out that this old ale/barleywine (that was aged in oak, mind you) is several dollars cheaper than regular Gratitude. And I'm guessing it's even a 750mL vs the 22 oz'er, but could certainly be wrong about that. No idea how it will compare obviously. But this price point is much more normal if you ask me.

Wood Burner, our Imperial Smoked Stout aged in Bourbon barrels, will be released Monday, May 2 at the Jackie O's Taproom & Brewery, 25 Campbell Street, Athens!

Wood Burner has not been bottled since the first run in 2014. Ironically, just days after a fire on Union Street (where our Brewpub & Public House are located) destroyed 4 local businesses before being stopped before our Brewpub, but damaging our Public House. This beer had been aging in barrels for months & previously designed labels arrived the Monday after the Sunday fire. This beer is a reminder to us all of what we've overcome as a team. Cheers to the local fire fighters, law enforcement, & community/worldwide support we've received! We love you all!

6 bottle limit/person/day, limited distribution in Ohio.

OneDropSoup flies in, adorned in a snazzy EE cape to White Knight in 3...2...
