OneDropSoup, I saw that you mentioned you tried Julius recently. What did you think about it? It was a long time want of yours if I remember correctly.

So I'm guessing this means there's no "Two" coming from brewgentlemen

....

All three beers will be available on draft and in growlers. Bottles of Foshomo will be released during our Anniversary Bottle Release on Saturday, May 21st."

I wouldn't assume that. Sounds like there's at least a chance more than one beer is being released in bottles on that date...

Yeah there's more info here.

We're turning two, family. Let's celebrate.

"We're kicking off our 2nd Anniversary Week with the release of three new hazy pales:

- A new batch of Albatross, our all-Galaxy spring double IPA
- Foshomo, an amped-up double IPA version of Momo, our Mosaic pale ale
- Foggy Mountain, a new American pale ale with Azacca, Amarillo and Simcoe hops

All three beers will be available on draft and in growlers. Bottles of Foshomo will be released during our Anniversary Bottle Release on Saturday, May 21st."
I think I accidentally deleted that email. Are all of these happening in a few weeks? Or are any going on this week?

EDIT: Most specifically I'm wondering about Albatross.

aha!

Old Ale though...that's something different. I'll take it. Anyone know what kind of oak barrels?

ISO a mule. Will be out of town :(
Anybody got any grandparents that aren't already spoken for?

Not really a long-time-want, but one of the first beers in a long time that I actively wanted to "land". Kraftster very kindly dropped it on me at The Sour & the Funky on Saturday. It was pretty great - super citrusy, juicy, with just a tiny little resiny harshness on the finish that I liked. I can see what's made it sort of the "standard-bearer" for the NE IPAs, & I think Brew Gentlemen & Roundabout have produced beers of that caliber, which is fantastic.

So I guess what I'm saying is that the law of attraction works, you just gotta put it out there in the universe.

You think they will sell out right away? My thought would be that it would last the weekend because of the style. Who is going to bring mules for an oak aged old ale? (this is not a jab on the style, but just a comment about how it isn't a style that people knock over each other for)

I am curious to try it, as I enjoyed One and in fact still have a bottle on my shelf for the right occasion.

I don't know, man, think 4th Dementia, Adam from the Wood, the Old Stock Cellar Reserves. There's some hot, hot old ales out there (if you believe that style exists...).

It's always amazed me how barleywines are pretty popular, but Old Ales? **** that, old ales suck

Anyway...did the first anni beer last long? I know their popularity has grown significantly, but still....need to try to compare with something.....for speculation purposes

I consider 4th Dementia a fringe beer that lots of "non hardcore beer drinkers" don't know about. I guess i never considered Old Stock to be a must buy.

I understand your point but there is a fine line difference between the TB community and the rest of the world.

The Cellar Reserves are amazing. The 2011 one aged in brandy barrels is one of the best old ales/barleywines I've ever had.

I have no idea, I doubt it. It was half joke, but I do think the hype is building. After stumbling in to BG on a previous Saturday food truck roundup (there was a bit of the sardine can thing going on), I could see this being a pretty crazy day when you add the anniversary thing on top. I may be wrong, but I think this is the first anniversary release that will be entirely a product of Zach, as he inherited One from the previous head brewer after it was already in barrels.

Also excited to see a DIPA getting bottled.

I understand its all conjecture at this point but I was posing the question because sometimes I think we forget that we are a microcosm of the beer drinking community. We may represent a small fraction of the business at a place like BG, Roundabout et al.

Does the old ale style reach out to the rest of the beer drinking community? That I have no clue on.

At the end of the day it is fun to discuss and I look forward to trying the beer!

IIRC One stuck around for at least the weekend. Not sure the difference on production #'s though. I would also argue that BG has become quite popular amongst the local population, not just us out here on the internets. As alluded to above there is a pretty big crowd of "regular" for a lot of their other events. **** a yoga day tapped out the blueberry IPA. I wouldnt say they have the following for someone like VooDoo but dont think this stuff will sit around for very long.

Anniversary Bottle Release on Saturday, May 21st

??

Or were you talking about heading down this week for the new releases on tap?

I thought I read the 18th. That stuck in my mind as it's the day before my birthday. If it's Saturday, then I see no reason why I wouldn't be there.
