I stopped down to East End for Gratitude bottles. The paper packaging is still awesome and IMO they should only do that rather than doing two different formats. I don't know anything about making beer but I'm sure it helps with trade value. The current space would have been awesome for the crowds of yesteryear. 2015 Grat was off the chain. The new batch was very nice as well but naturally needs some time.

I think the logic behind the packaging shift was that the paper labels are too labor intensive, no?

I haven't had Gratitude at all in a couple of years, but the last time I had it the BA version was abysmal. Like, really, really bad. I've always enjoyed non-BA Gratitude, but that last experience was so negative that it's turned me off of going over there at all.

Labor intensive but via volunteers right? I am certain it's a cosmic pain the ass to do that but it is also a part that makes it special.

I would definitely say it's worth revisiting Gratitude if it's been a while. I wasn't a huge fan of the BA version either but more of a "if it ain't broke" opinion. I don't know if they use Wigle barrels for the BA version but maybe that's a part of the problem with the end product? Young whiskey and local may be awesome for availability but trying to snag alternate distillery barrels could make it epic.

Yeah, I'm not sure but the can of BA Grat I had tasted like it had been aged in a bourbon barrel that had also been used to store fill dirt.

That certainly would be. Wigle whiskey is not very good.

Availability of what? Barrelage? If they work with a barrel broker, there wouldn't be an issue. Even then, barrelage is readily available if you know where to look.

I think driving to the north shore and picking up a barrel would make it more available than going through a barrel broker? How much easier could it be?

My barrel broker has me tied down in staves and bungs right now and let me tell you, it's been a big disappointment.

I hope some of yinz get that voodoo today. I'm out of town for work. That stuff probably won't last very long. And are those 12 ouncers for $20!?!

Anyone hear anything about Wexford Whole Foods Anniversary? Also I can not wait to get some Pretzel salad IPA cans in Butler Saturday...

Had a great time at Butler Brew Works, **** beer for the most part at Reclemation including the can. Terrible. Whole Foods dropped a bunch of kegs at 5 including carrot cake jream.

Reading comprehension is hard. I thought i read that it said that the beginning of their canning operations will coincide with the debut of the outdoor space in May. I re-read the letter and it doesn’t state that.

Dammit man you got me excited. As it is, this was basically an announcement that an announcement about cans is still like a year out.

BG going to be canning next month, along with an outdoor drinking space.

I've hung out in Braddock and Homestead WAY too much over the past couple years visiting them and Voodoo. Don't plan to go back any time soon, no matter what kinds of "pop ups" or "food truck roundups" that they have. Those places are shitholes and I don't want to spend my time driving across the entire city to spend my hard earned time off in dodgy places with nothing else to do but visit overrated breweries.

I'm taking the bait and I hate myself.

If so overrated, why have you spent WAY too much time there? Do you consider yourself to be extremely susceptible to the hype machine and/or the millennial fear of missing out?

Even when you're being a dick, there's usually some useful truth to it, but I feel like this one is just a complete troll job with some strange end goal of making the Voodoo Street Gang and Brew Gentlemen Friends and Family club come together in a united front to present a heated counter arguement.

You need to get down to Pipers ASAP, order the Troegs scratch #whatever pils and a Toad in the Hole, and chillax.
