Didn't OneDropSoup stand in line for DoubleMex then leave once the doors opened to actually sign up?

He was sort of holding a place for me. At the time, I had no plans on attempting to sign up for this. That particular day I saw there was not much of a line so figured I would roll the dice. Once I committed, OneDropSoup txtd me and said that if I didnt make the limit for the day I could have his place. I arrived and made it under the limit and Nate left. Didnt have to cut line and my 2 yr old daughter lasted standing in line for about an hour.

This reminds me of something out of a Dos Equis commercial.

"He waits for hours in line for rare beverages but departs when the establishment opens ... He is the most interesting man in Pittsburgh."

Do we know anywhere that still has CBS?

And was it true McNeilly beer was selling them for $45 a bottle on friday?

It is what it is.
Can confirm. Was befuddled.
You do you.
OneDropSoup just did that to show all of the new money ******** who stood in line how old money he really is. He's an old money alpha OG who don't need no stinkin' adjuncts.
What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.

If you can't handle me at my worst, then you don't deserve me at my best.

Wow, why?? By all accounts they were doing well right? Off to google.

On a related note, I haven't heard one peep about the Charlotte location since they announced it. I keep asking around and no one knows anything. I wonder if them leaving Portland is a good thing for me (more resources poured into Charlotte launch)...or bad (rethinking their presence in other markets).

EDIT: press release states "Fat Head’s will now concentrate efforts in growing their production brewery and brand in Ohio, Pennsylvania and neighboring states."

Is NC a "neighboring state"? If not, Ima be pisssssssssed if they retract their plans to come down here. But would also completely understand, with their current Ohio expansion and now this Portland news, if they decided to rethink their company vision a bit. But I feel like Charlotte is made up of like 50% midwesterners/northerners and would be extremely welcoming of a midwest brewery if it made its way down here. Very different population base than Portland.

So I read this as the “franchise owner” of the Portland location basically decided he didn’t want to be affiliated with the fat heads brand anymore? Very interesting and strange to me.

Sounds like creative differences in general. Owner probably wanted more freedom to brew what he wanted along with not being in for the fatheads branding.

In general, I never liked this strategy from FH. You cant essentially franchise out a craft beer brand at various locations around the country. Not sure how long this has been open, but if this was 2007 maybe it would work better, but it just doesnt in the current market.

Some places can work opening a second spot, but normally its within a reasonable distance from the original. Hard to just send the brand to the other end of the country and think you can have enough QC and creative control.

EDIT: looking at yelp reviews, this opened in Nov of '14. So makes sense it folded, especially in a city like portland.
