Ok so I brewed a saison in December. Just Belgian Pale Malt/Raw Spelt from Weatherbury Farms in Avella,Pa/Carapils/Low Alpha Crystal hops. Whirlpool-ed it with Pineapple Sage and Meyer lemon zest/juice(was going for my own take on a Fantome type of beer). I let it cool overnight and only pitched my clean saison yeast but it's gotten nice and tart and definitely picked up some wild yeast/bacteria. Bottled end of April, it finished at 1.000 and comes in around 5.8% abv . I have about 2 bottles that aren't spoken for if anyone wants to meet up sometime next week or if you are one of the guys who live a bit further I can mail with some local stuff. Also I should have some other stuff ready in the next couple months that I am being forced to bottle due to moving so If you are interested I can get you some next time.
That sounds awesome!

Won't work out for me this year, but I highly recommend getting tickets to Zwanze Day in Buffalo at Thin Man. It was an outstanding event last year.

You speak the truth. Hit it the past two years in Buffalo and both times were fantastic. Smoothest beer events that I have ever been to. Bummed that I can't make it this year.

If any left I have some Homebrew saison bottles I could swap.

I'm 99.99% going.
Even if you don't score the actual ticket you can still go and do all other drafts (besides Zwanze) and they had a killer bottle list for onsite last year. I remember folks hanging with us who did not get tickets who I was happy to share my pour of Zwanze with.

*'cept when I'm checking that Etre page a few times a day. To quote the fake priest from Kingpin "It's my only vice."

Any thoughts on gto strategy for etre? Have your basket full of shelf fantome at all times so when LPs or whatever pop up, you can just add to basket and pound the Order button? Or just buy the couple bottles and suck it up and pay horribly sub-optimal shipping? Or take the time optimizing your basket after the fact and risk the rare **** selling out? Is there another option I'm missing?

The best option? Buy 12 Fantomes.

The 2nd best option? They do a reservation system. So, I can buy a couple 'Tomes now and start building a box. They will hold the bottles for you until you buy enough to fill a box. At each quarter end (3/20, 6/20, 9/20, 12/20) they make you fill your box and pay for shipping. So you can't just have them sit on bottles for a year.

I typically have some 'Tomes I'm sitting on (new releases or old favorites). If a batch of Cantillon hits, I will usually add that in there. I'm assuming by "LP" you mean Lou Pepes. Don't even hold your breath for limited release Cantillon. They haven't put any up in a long time, and if they do, you probably won't even see it hit the screen. I've gotten lucky with Hommage before, but it was pure luck. I check maybe a couple times per day. There are people that refresh all day eerrrrrrr day.

tl;dr - Order Fantome, some 3F, and maybe some basic Cantillon. Be happy.

I haven't spent much time on etre in the last year or two. Has it really gotten to the point where you have to check multiple times a day just to get regular old 'tomes and loons?

No..get stuff put on hold.

This is good to know though. Didn't realize they did that.

'Tomes can be had at any time. Same with 3F OG. Really, that's all one needs in life.

They put limits on the basic Cantillon, but it still goes within a half day of being posted.

There will be no limited 3F or Cantillon to be had.

So the checking multiple times a day is just for funsies?

Old habits die hard, and I have a desk job :)

My "multiple times" is typically when I do my morning internet surfing and then again around 11am or so. There are people who legit refresh it all day long. I bet there are people that keep a window open and even glance at it while they are looking at porn.

Maybe they even honk their toads to the thought of a Fou Foune being posted? I don't know. There is no way to prove this.

The Lambic thread here usually has someone posting when things become available. I was able to get some A and G because of it. Homage was either this morning or yesterday per that thread. Etre puts up the rarer beers less frequently especially the loons. I did have an issue where they mailed my box to an address I no longer live. Even though We emailed twice about the new address. They still sent to where my last package went. The owner of the house got mad at me when she wanted me to replace 20 year old carpet from a yogurt stain for $300 and I discussed de appreciation with her and banned me from returning. I still got my beer. **** her.

Coming down in a few weeks for a show at rock room/hopefully a bucs game too (aug 19). Third thing I'd love to do is hit up a few breweries or stores to grab a few things to go. Last time I was down was a few years ago, what should I check out? Whats new?
