Heading to Vermont today on a little beer acquisition trip, and just to visit in general.
Anyone have any experience doing this kind of thing?
Planning on staying 2 nights in Waterbury, trying to chase some Heady/Lawson's deliveries. Making the trip out to Hill Farmstead tomorrow, and probably checking out the pubs in Waterbury in the evenings.

I'm going off the delivery schedules on each brewery's website, but if anyone has experience specifically with picking up SoS and Heady, how long it lasts at places that take delivery, etc. I'd appreciate any advice!
Check out the New England section of this site. There is a Visiting Vermont thread you should find fairly helpful.

Never done this but I just looked at the HF draft list and Double Citra is on. Such an awesome beer. Enjoy. Sumner also sounds great.

If you have the time I would hit Tree House on your way up.

Don't be shy about snagging a few bottles/cans of beer for your ol' pal hunterpgh!

Weekend or weekday and/or holiday? Those all make a serious difference.

My buddy goes to Waterbury all the time, says that Pro Pig, Blackback and the Reservoir are all dope and close to each other. I've never been but my buddy is a lot cooler than me so i trust him on this ****.

Yes, and it's awesome. You can walk to the days inn, but no sidewalks and not much in the way of light.

I don't think I've ever had a Cascade beer I've liked. A high ABV beer that is just lactic and sour with some fruit doesn't really appeal to me especially at their price point. They are basically doing really strong barrel aged Berliners and charging crazy amounts of money for them.

Thinking about this a bit more...I think this sort of thing has to fade eventually now that more breweries are making sour beers, right? Maybe 5-10 years ago, there was a certain novelty about Cascade stuff or the Bruery sours, etc...but now there are AWAs being produced with way more depth and at normal prices. I can't imagine that Cascade will be able to continue to charge what they charge with other viable options on the market...will they?

I went a few years ago and am going back for 10 days in august. Definitely eat at prohibition pig if you're going to be in waterbury. One of the best bottle shops i've ever been to was beverage warehouse in Burlington. They had liefman's kriek and goudenband on clearance for $2.99 a bottle when i was there in addition to a ton of great stuff like 3F. It seemed like it was hard to go wrong with anything up there because every place is so local-centric.

Don't know if you guys have been following the potential liquor law changes but at least we are seeing some positive traction at the state level.

I think the biggest potential change (if it becomes law) is the non-revoked or non-renewed licences will be auctioned off at the state level, up to 50 per county (aka potential for new bars/stores). Granted it is a very small step but it is great to finally see some change brewing and hopefully we can put an end to the state run stores.

I hope so. I still feel like the majority of beer drinkers are newer people who migrate and become IPA and stout drinkers, they seek the biggest strongest ones and then when they have a sour beer they look for the biggest most sour/fruit added thing they can find. Hopefully they then realize there's more to those beers than being sour. I mostly don't like Cascade because there isn't any balance to their beers, they don't pitch brett they are just Sacc and lacto(I'm sure brett finds it's way in their beers since they barrel age but none have any major contributions from brett).

Yeah I found a decent thread, posted in there and got 1 reply, not a lot of activity right now, but sounds like I definitely need to head out to Parker Pie after HF.

I will certainly try! It's gonna be a quick 3 day trip, definitely won't have time to drive thru Mass.. this time.

I dunno man, the bar is set pretty high! I think dinner at Pro Pig or Blackback is happening tonight.

Damn wish I could go for 10 days! This 3 day trip is going to go by quick. I've actually been to that place, and it's awesome.

Yeah he kindly gave me a few recommendations while at BG.

Speaking of Focal, is it pretty much in bars only? No retail?

Most bars carry it, yeah. No retail that I know of unless you have an in with someone apparently. Not sure when The Alchemist is supposed to stop sending their stuff to restaurants though, it'll happen at some point around when the new brewery opens in July.

12 percent lists Tilquin as one of their brands. Does it actually find its way to shelves?
