Just show up in the time allotted.

They questioned me for paying an invoiced amount as a gift. I would just tell them you were collecting money for a group activity not selling anyone anything. This is a bit of a stretch, but not all together dishonest. You are still acting in the spirit of the personal payment option since this isn't a commercial enterprise or sale for profit on your part.

It's a bulk purchase. Nothing illegal about that. They just want to make some money on the deal.

While I agree with these guys that its just a bulk purchase and should be okay, if they make you pay a fee please let me know and I will send you the additional money from my 'gift'.

Just show up between store hours, which is 7am - 11:59am. Seriously, if you get there at noon, you'll see me pulling away.

I'll be checking my PMs as well as this thread periodically. Also, my cell# is located on the invoice next to the pick up address. Don't hesitate to call if you get lost or if you're running a few minutes late. I'm not necessarily trying to hang around until 1pm, but at the same time I don't mind hanging around for a little bit if your trip met an unforeseen bump in the road.

I know that some of you are traveling a pretty good distance. I'll work with you guys anyway I can.

DMace:

I mentioned in this thread back when it was started that I would be available to help sort/stack/etc if needed since I live relatively closeby. Do you think a hand would be worthwhile or are you just going to divvy up the goods as each person comes in?

I appreciate the offer, but I pretty much have it handled. Two of the pallets are stocked on the shelves. The third is sitting out of the way for the time being. I think I found another shelf that I can consolidate. So I should be able to break the third pallet down to make everything accessible for pick up.

DMace,

I am on the other end of the spectrum. I can be there as early as you are willing to be there. If that's 7AM, that's awesome. I'll probably pull up earlier than that but will happily wait to 7.

Thank you guys for a great job!

Yep, 7 works.

What did they want?

Thank you for using PayPal to accept money with your PayPal account. We recently changed our pricing structure so that you can receive money from friends and family for personal payments within the US for free. Personal payments are for sending a gift, splitting a lunch bill, paying your share of the living expenses, and everyday exchanges of money between friends and family.

If you receive money as a payment for a purchase or service, you will continue to incur fees.

We've noticed that some customers are sending you personal payments for purchases of items or services; for example, transaction 63776833653.

Unfortunately, this is against our policies, and we need your help correcting it. Please don't ask or allow your customers to use personal payments to pay for their purchases.

If we continue to see such activity, we may have to disable your ability to receive free personal payments, and then you will pay fees for all money received through PayPal.

Here's how you can find more information about payment types and fees:

Click "Fees" at the bottom of any PayPal page
Click "Legal Agreements" at the bottom of any PayPal page, and then click "PayPal User Agreement." Sections 4 and 8 refer to receiving money and fees.
If you have any questions, concerns, or think we may have made a mistake, please contact us at [email protected].

We value your business and appreciate your cooperation.

Sincerely,
Barbara

I let them know that I was paying for a bulk buy and that everyone was paying their split of the bill. Couldn't get in touch with barb but they notated my account. I let them know that there is a a good possibility that it will happen again in a few months.

So if you don't issue an invoice and just tell us what we owe and we send it to you, they would be OK with that? Could an invoice be generated in Excel or Open Office and sent to each purchaser outside of the PayPal system. All they see are transfers of money to you, they have no idea what the money is for and don't see the invoice to make them think we're paying you for services. Just thinking here, not looking for a way to make this system harder to administer, just a way to keep PayPal from giving us a hassle.

Didn't they in fact get paid a fee on most of the invoiced amounts? That's why we sent follow up "gifts" to you, right? Anyway, the grains are in and all is right in the world...

Well I told them what was going on and they said it wouldn't be an issue. Using the invoices through PayPal was easy because I entered all the different grains and prices once then just added the ID number and qty and it did the rest. I'm sure I could find another way to do it and not be any harder.

All is good.

I don't know exact numbers but a lot of people sent all the money as a gift and it was only 1 transaction from start to finish which was nice. It also saved the 3% that PayPal charges. I'm gonna search for another service but who knows. I could have swore I found one the other day but can't remember the name

Hey everyone, adamreef was kind enough to donate a pack of large heafty ziplocks for those who are in on the DME split. 5 lbs fits comfortably into each bag.

You'll still have to bring containers for everything else.

Picked up my grain today! WooHoo! Unable to brew till next weekend, but I don't have to get grain to do it. I hope this purchase will keep the pipeline flowing for 3-4 months. Thanks to Dand9066 for taking the lead and making this buy happen, thanks also to Dmace for taking delivery and organizing distribution of the bags. I'll be watching for the next buy!

are we allowed to pick up today? that would be better than saturday as i have the rest of the day off.

Picked up all my grain this morning. It was nice meeting Dale, Dylan, and the rest of guys that were there! Thanks again for setting this up and organizing!

Now I have to come up with some sort of storage/organization for all this grain!

What a great day. I got home from picking up my grain and the rhizomes I ordered were sitting on my front porch. Looks like I have some work to do this weekend.

Picked up my grains and supplies! Great to meet you Dylan. Thanks guys for setting this up! Brew night tonight.....

Alright... no Private Messages, no voicemails or missed calls. I hope everyone who planned on coming out today (Saturday) made it. Its ten after twelve and I'm about to head home.

Nice meeting everyone. Everything ran fairly smoothly... even the splits. I'm still waiting on few people, most of which had contacted me about a later pick up date.

I need Kansas to win tonight, and then lose to either L'ville or Kentucky in the Championship game and I win my pool.

Thanks again, Dale. Happy brewing everyone.
