I was brewing right before Christmas and I ran into a problem. I use a converted keggle as both HLT and Brew kettle. I heated my strike water just fine and got my mash going. I then walked away for the hour of mashing. When I got back I was going to heat up the Sparge water when my (Chinese knockoff Auber) PID read the Temp as "EEE". I'm wondering if my RTD is no longer watertight or my Controller is giving up. As the PID was no longer reading a temp I was unable to run my element even in manual mode. So I had to dump the batch.

Anyone have any ideas on which part is bad?

I'm planning on ordering a new RTD and a new Auber controller anyway just wanted to see if anyone had a similar event happen to them.

Does the PID manual say anything about the "EEE" reading? Many have codes to indicate what's wrong, "EEE" may mean something.

Does the PID display anything different if you disconnect the RTD?
