Hello all, first new thread for me. Just installed a perlick 525SS, very excited, seems like a great faucet. However, the top piece that screws down on it that makes contact with the tap handle doesn't screw down far enough to provide a 12'' tap handle enough resistance to stay upright without pouring itself a delicious beer while you're not around. I've done some searching and can't find another post with this problem. Advice? opinions? solutions? Thanks in advance

Matt

Kinda makes you wish you would bought the 12 dollar, always sticking economy faucet doesnt it.

All kidding aside, I recently installed a Perlick as a second tap and was a bit surprised at how loose the thing is, however I dont think its bad enough that the tap will open by itself. I dont exactly like the fact that the tap handle swivels without tightening. I'd be interested to see if anyone else has these issues.

I have 2 longish tap handles that I don't use because it's a 5 gallon spill waiting to happen. Lucky enough to score one of those nice hand blown tap handles for FD gift this year and expect to see 2 more in the coming year. I'd not buy them for myself, but it makes an easy gift for the wife to buy. It would also require me to move my chest freezer further out from the wall to prevent a raised lid beer shower, which I have experience with. LOL

edit - Bobby M's point is valid, but I still don't like the dynamics of the long handle.

bobby, it seems like i have that thing pretty darn tight, and it's still extremely loose compared to that old cheap economy tap (which grew mold after 5 days). I'll deal with the looseness if it can't be fixed as long as it means I can go more than 5 days before mold shows up.

i have two heavy handles and one lighter wooden one its 11 inch's but made outta poplar
i traded back to the 425's for the heavy ones after i cleaned up 2 gallons of a pale and refilled a empty c02 tank

one thing you could try is a bonnet angler to put more of the weight back to keep it closed

any body tried making some type of nylon spacer from a nylon washer? might be making a trip to home depot to pick up a few for some home project pieces...

I have to agree. I had the 425's and just built a keezer with the 525's. I always push back on the handle to assure me it is not going to leak. I also find myself twisting the top trying to tighten it up. I kind of wish I had my 425's back.
