Greetings to all,

I just found a listing on Craigslist for a Perlick 24 Inch Kegerator, model is H1T-S and serial number is 635084. He wants 250 for it but says the door switch needs replacing and there is an error code of HA on the display. I have done a bit of research and the code means the inside chamber was above the limit temp for 30 minutes or more. The fixes range from simple misaligned door or faulty gasket to the condensor being either blocked or dirty. I am also wondering if the cooling liquid, freon or whatever they use these days, has either leaked out or is no longer good. I have done research and cannot find this particular model to price the door switch or the trouble shoot the code. I know this is a long shot, but has anybody run into these issues with a Perlick Kegerator? Looking at their web site, these seem to be very high end units and at 250 bucks and a few parts it might be worth it. Any input or experiences are welcome. If you say "run away" I am ok with that too. LOL Thank you in advance.

In looking at the users guide it sure seems as if the error code indicates that there is a simple issue of either cleaning or a door gasket replacement. I am really tempted as he went from 250 to 200 bucks and this does seem to be higher end. I might go to see if it will fit two corny kegs in it. My dad keeps ringing in my ear "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is" LOL.

Here is what the user manual says:

Controller display is flashing “HA”• The internal compartment temperature has exceeded the high temperature alarm preset value forover 30 minutes.• Check to ensure door is closed.• Check for door gasket seal.• Did you just install warm product?• Is the condenser clean?• Is the louvered toe plate obstructed?• Has the surrounding ambient temperature changed dramatically?• Is the interior light ON?

It will fit 2 corny kegs. (Two 1/6 barrels or a 1/4 barrel, slim or standard).

If the compressor is okay... I think that is where the boogy man might be and make your dad right. But if it is something simple - a pretty good deal. The unit is supposed to cool 70% faster and be commercial grade.

Have you looked at it yet? If the gasket isn't worn or damaged and it doesn't need a good cleaning, then maybe it is too good to be true. Also, do you know that you can source parts?

I sent Perlick a message to see what they can tell me. I just keep thinking this i way too good to be true, but then I think, maybe I am just getting lucky and will have a chance to score a great deal. lol

I was thinking the local country club is missing a pool fridge/tap. Ha.

What's up with the wires sticking out above the door?
I just noticed that as well. I think that might have to do with the door switch he is talking about needing to be replaced.

The more I look at it the more I am thinking of taking a pass on it. I am a decent diy guy, but this might be a bit more than I want to get in to.

Those wires are coming through a hole, not the door. It is like a switch was there. I would get a manual from perlick and then take a look at it in person. It looks like it needs a switch.
It mentions needing a door switch, so I am guessing that has something to do with that.

Pass;
1/ As I recall, you have limited space so you should know; commercial kegerators are much louder than domestics.... My first kegerator was a commercial one in the back on the main floor of my house and it kept me awake at night in my upstairs bedroom at the front of the house and no, there was nothing wrong with it..it was in perfect form...just very loud.
2/ Though I don't visually process dimensions very well anymore, that looks like a 2.5 tower and a very poor design choice:
There's not enough room for an efficient air-recirculation tube which I notice is not part of the design and as you live in California, I cannot stress enough the need for efficient tower-cooling...plus; trying to put your 2-tap 3" tower on it will be a major cutting and drilling job.
3/ Always replace the lines when you get a used kegerator, but in this case, you'll also want to replace the plated-chrome shank that unit comes with.
..just my 2-cents.
:mug:

I noticed it uses R134a, which is what cars use. If the connections are the same, you may be able to get a repair shop to recharge it for you if necessary...
