I had a hefewiezen blow up on me during primary fermentation. I was happy that it was all inside my Cool Brew bag. I replaced my air lock with a blow off tube. This occurred three days ago. I just checked my brew and it still bubbling but the whole bag smelled. I dumped about a gallon of water with PBE. Is this safe?

I'm sure its safe . . . But why wouldn't you remove your bucket/carboy from the bag and clean it? You're just gonna (sounds like maybe already) grow critters on it. I'd wash it with PBW, rinse, and dry. I'd also clean the outside of the bucket/carboy with a PBW soaked sponge, then wipe clean, then spray starsan all over it. Your beer should be safe inside, but if you open to take hydro samples or transfer and haven't cleaned up, you might be asking for infection.

Also if your beer continues to show signs of fermentation longer than expected for Recipe fermentation temp and OG, you might have got critters in there, just keep an eye on it after you clean up.

Agreed.

You want your beer fermenting in a clean area. Pull your bucket/carboy out and clean rhe bag. If nothing else you get peace of mind and you get to avoid a nasty smell from the bag.
