I would just like some views on whether this recipe looks ok. It has the hop schedule of a pilsner, not sure if it will work

Looks fine to me! With 7.7% Crystal and 2.6% Melanoidin, it might be best to keep your mash temp aound 148-150 to keep the body/sweetness in check. 40 IBU is a good level for a pale lager, IMO.

If you have access to BestMalz Pilsner malt, you might consider using that, but the pale would be fine too. I love me some Best Pilsner.

34/70 is a great all-around lager yeast and should work fine for this recipe.

I might switch out the crystal with some Vienna or Munich depending on what SRM you wanted to attain. Either way it will be a nice Lager!

I think your hop bill looks pretty darn good. Saaz is a very subtle and beautiful hop and the one I reach for on a regular basis. I'll be interested in hearing your review in a couple of months.

Thanks guys, now I feel more confident.

WRT the BestMalz Pilsner, that is what I wanted, but they were out so I took the pale malt

Some may disagree, but I wouldn't turn around for the difference....no biggie! You'll make a great beer!

Unfortunately this is one of my batches that turned out a disaster due to heavy oxidation. I will be doing it again hopefully without the strong cardboard flavour
