Sounds tasty. I've had a number of homebrewed pale ales with no added caramel malts, with varying percentages of 2-row, Vienna and Munich, and liked them all from a malt perspective. I found toning down the ibu's by about 5 makes it a more drinkable beer, as caramel malt sweetness mutes a bit more of the bitterness.
As a commercial reference, Harpoon IPA (not a great IPA, but a drinkable pale ale in my mind, and one that I have drunk gallons of) is a mix of 2-row, Munich and Victory. Clean, dry, hint of toasty and malty.
