I have a couple of Stone bombers that I'd like to reuse. It would be great to get the Stone labeling off, but instead of paper those arrogant bastards paint the info on. Anyone had any success in scrubbing that stuff off?

I don't have a Stone bottle to test on right now, but if anything is going to work, try CLR. Give a soak for a few minutes and then run it under water - it will come off with the lightest of swipes.

Some labels, however, are enameled glass and will not come off with this method.

8 hour soak in hot water and B-brite, then wipe right off with scrubbing sponge. Used this method on many painted labels before...back when I bottled......now I'm lazy and use kegs;)

The stone bottles are a pain in the arse, for sure. I usually just fill them and not sorry about the labels. I rarely use them though.

For most painted bottles some very strong Star-San has done a pretty good job of eating the paint off. I've also used some paint remover, but frankly the process is just not fun. I've found other large bottles to use instead.

Even after I've gotten the paint off of some painted bottles, the outline of the paint remains if you hold up just right in the light. It's almost as if they use an etching paint to get it to adhere to the glass.

Great suggestions, but I think the best suggestion is "screw that; don't use them"

I think I'll have a go at turning them into drinking glasses.
