Posted this in the fermentation forum but no luck with replies.

Took apart my Oxygenation Kit head to see if I could stop the leaking. Now I'm not sure of the sequence the parts go back. Bought it from Northern Brewer but they did not have a schematic of it. In particular there is a thin red washer that I'm not sure if it's placement.

It leaked very badly when I screwed it on the oxygen bottle. Only got one dose out in my fermenter before it leaked out. Yes, I do know it is reversed threaded.

I did tighten a nut at the bottom other users mentioned but it seemed tight enough. I put teflon tape on the thread, not sure if that is necessary.

Any advice from owners about the thin red washer?

According to the review section on the NB page for this device, "Those are pretty much impossible to get put back together. If within a year it could be under warranty."

They never offered advise on how to try to assemble it properly, nor a diagram...

Sent them an email asking for help, here is the response.

Hey Bruce,

Unfortunately I do not have a schematic so I hope you are able to get it back together without any issues. The leaking is usually a pretty simple fix. On the bottom side there is a nut that can become loose from shipping. If you tighten that nut it should fix the leak. If you have any other questions please let me.

Cheers, William R

Issue was not with the bottom side nut, so I'll just try and error and hope to not burn through too many O2 bottles. Thanks for the warranty reminder. I think it is within one year, so I will pursue that angle.

Thanks again on the warranty issue day trippr. Checked my order history and I bought it on 12/22/15. Only a few days to spare! Website says one year on equipment, so I will be calling tomorrow to check on my options.

You can pick those regulators up at home depot too for a more reasonable privce if NB sticks you on it...... actually they sell them with an oxygen bottle too as a little portable torch kit.... Thats where I bought mine..

teflon tape can actually cause more issues with leaks than not having it... this system works the same as a small portable propane grill and as you hopefully no teflon tape is also a big no no there as well.

Thanks for the advice on the teflon and Home Depot. I'll pursue that angle if I don't get a resolution with NB.
