Hey all, Just bottled my first batch (Portland Pale Ale) and I used oxygen absorbing caps. I have about 25 left over and they have been soaked in sanitizing solution.

A. Are the caps garbage?

B. Was I supposed to sanitize them first (I did, but I've heard you aren't supposed to)?

C. If not garbage, can I save them?

D. Are they worth it? Any personal experiences?

Thanks!

I've heard that submerging them in water quickly uses up their oxygen absorbing properties. I don't think you need to use them unless you are bottling something that you may want to age for over 6 months or more and even then I've used regular caps and they've worked fine.
