Hi all,
I'm making my first batch of hard cider currently, and think I may have possibly made a mistake. I put 5 gallons of unpasturized cider with 1/4 teaspoon of pectic enzyme, 2 oz. of yeast nutrient, and a packet of yeast (which i bloomed first), and the fermentation was going strongly after 24 hours. I added the 2 oz. packet of yeast nutrient, not knowing the proper dosage. After reading a few recipies online, I see instructions that only call for anywhere between 1/4 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of yeast nutrient. Will the amount I added have any adverse effect on the final product? Will it impart a bad taste? Any negatives at all? Any help on the subject would be appreciated.
Thanks
Chris
