I just finished cleaning up my smoker. Ready to start smoking meats again. Sous vide is also the tits. Love that little immersion circulator!
Consumer-grade sous vide circulators are the best addition to the modern kitchen since the dishwasher. We just got a second unit a few weeks ago, now I can do multiple cooking temps or different proteins.

I had a sous vide and just didn’t like sous vide food. I sold it. I tried making picana with the sous vide which is probably the best thing it made but I still prefer someone else to make it for me.

I just have the one anova but would use a second one in a heartbeat. I think I'm getting an instapot next weekend for my birthday from the in laws. Then I can do the protein in the sous vide and nuke some veggies in the pressure cooker right before serving.

Nice! I have been a license Amateur Radio Operater for about 24 years. (Damn I'm old!) I remember using my first Handy Talkie when my oldest was born. Well, I think I owned it, but could only listen at the time!

I have meant to upgrade my no-code tech license (or whatever is that is called today) but haven't sat down to study for the tests.

I have a J-Pole on my roof and I can plug in my Handy Talkie, or one of my Mobile radios, but I haven't for years. Internet and Cellular phones have made radio less interesting. I used to enjoy making local calls on the Autopatch back in the day.

Maybe some day I'll take up my buddy's offer to try out his old Heathkit. I doubt I could reach MP from Reed City on 2 Meters. Not sure if the Link system goes close enough to MP for your use. I have no idea what repeaters are running these days, actually.

I really started into radio because some friends did, and I wanted to learn more about electronics. I found out that there isn't much practical learning in HAM radio. Or at least I can't seem to learn it.

But I have several other hobbies. These days I am making a forge to make knives from. And I have cars to work on (Constantly), plus some other things. I'd like to play more guitar, but I'm at the point where I really want to play with a few other guys in a band kind of thing. And there is nobody around here to jam with that I know. So my guitars mostly sit there. I STILL haven't soldered a cap onto my tone circuit in my old Kramer Focus 1000 frankenstein guitar. Maybe that's a small project to get done this weekend.

I think I listed woodworking earlier and feel I should clarify. What that really means is I like to make various shapes of metal really sharp. And then dull again.

Yeah I am not as active on 2 meters as I used to be, as the W8IRA linked system that used to cover the whole state is pretty much hit and miss these days. The Big Rapids repeater is on the fritz which makes the one here in MP a transmit only ( I have to listen to Cadillac to receive) repeater. There is a repeater in Farwell 147.200 with no pl tone that is functional. There is also a repeater in Sears that is a 70 cm repeater 443.300 with a pl of 74.4 but I am not sure if that is functional.

I never use mine for steak. I prefer steak on the grill.

There are some things for which it's heavenly, though... Generally the sort of things which take well to braising can be done even better sous vide. And I use it on vegetables too...

I like the instant pot. I've made coca cola braised short ribs which were amazing, done some potatoes and soups, and done risotto a few times.

I've been growing mushrooms for years. I was a moderator at mycotopia for a while.
When I was young and dumb it was the interesting kind. Now only legal stuff. It's been a while since I grew anything at all. May have to change that.

I used to competitive shoot but it got expensive and I have kids now.

Oh, and a lot of bass fishing. I live in the damn Everglades.

P.Cubensis? He sure is a fun guy. JK I am not advocating illegal drug use.

Well I've worked some wood in my day, almost exclusively my own. Besides that though, I love to hunt, fly fish, which includes tying my own flys. I play the guitar and the banjo, but way more the banjo. I didn't spot one other banjo player on this thread which you would think banjo and homebrew go hand and hand? I also love to rock climb, especially in the gym. I love how it feels to be on a well designed clever rock gym route. There are several other things that support my hunting hobby, like gun dog training, clay shooting, hiking and geocaching.

I like to cook and I do it often, usually trying new things. I am also into computers and technology. I sometimes play video games on PC ( used to do it more, now not so much ). I like hiking and go up mountains.

I do play a bit of ukulele, though it hadn't occurred to me to do so while brewing. I'm not any good tho. Playing the banjo looks like a lot of fun, but I've never had an opportunity to try it. Is there a basic beginner model you could recommend to get a taste of it without breaking the bank? After all I do have grain bills piling up!

I also play a bit of ukulele. The Deering Goodtime series of banjos are pretty basic but well made. The Fender ones look way cooler, but they aren’t as well made or sound as good. Best to stay away from the hundred dollar models by companys like Savanna.

I've been a big reader most of my life. I've had a book on the nightstand literally since I was a little boy. (Thanks, Mom! :D)
Cooking and baking have also been long standing hobbies for me. I learned my way around a kitchen very early and have been in one either for fun or professionally most of my life.
Calligraphy is a love, though I haven't set nib to paper in far too long. I've also picked up learning German here recently. I've always wanted to, and I ain't gettin no younger.

I'm a total Germanophile, I love the culture and the language, having picked up the basics and native pronunciation from my grandparents (berliners) in my childhood. When I moved to southern Germany for work the locals sometimes asked if I was from northern Germany because though my accent was good, my grammar was kinda spotty. So I picked up a schwabisch accent to blend in which led them to wonder whether I was simply addled. o_O

I'm a hobby bouncer, I dallied in hydroponics and fish tanks, metal detecting, bottle collecting, and other things. The only thing I have ever stuck with is racing.....

Gardening, building- but running out of yard space to build on - hiking and backpacking, travel that includes hiking and backpacking (writing this from El Calafate Argentina) and of course making wine and beer.

Ich auch. Ich bin deutscher Abstammung. My family moved over and settled in Illinois when it was being divided up, best we can tell. I never remember a single person in my family ever having an accent or speaking German, so I guess we lost it. Thankfully the web is rich in German language stuff so it's easy to find examples of pronunciation. I love dict.cc, man. Duolingo has been helpful. Plus you tube gives access to everything under the sun for learning and listening.

And there we go, a hobby I enjoy! You can tell because I blab on about it if you get me started, much like brewing...

Cheers!
